Sweet Book
I am always looking for books to use in my classroom for social-emotional learning This is a sweet story where my fourth grade students were able to determine the theme of the story. I plan to use it again next year.

Everyone needs this book.
My daughter gave my husband and I this book 2 Christmases ago. We loved it so much that we have given copies as gifts to multiple people. I feel I should have an inventory of 5 or so copies to have on hand when I need it. My husband and I discussed gift giving before we got married. The family he grew up in did it very differently than my family did. We threw out the bad ideas, kept some of the good and added our own philosophies to decide how we would handle the matter in our new family. As the case with many Americans, we already have too many belongings as it is. The best gifts we can give to each other is time together, rather than just buying something so the receiver has something to unwrap. On occasion a perfect gift idea does pop up. There is a gentleman, that I will refer to as Mr. Bob, who worked at the garden center here in town. For the 17 years I had known him since first going to the garden center when we moved here, he has been a rich resource for information, always greeted you with a warm smile, and remembered your name. He consoled me when my beloved step-father passed. Both Mr. Bob and my step-dad were avid birders and belonged to the Audubon Society for many years. He helped me choose the perfect tree to plant in memory of my step-dad. Last year I discovered that Mr. Bob was retiring. I called the Audubon Society to donate $50.00 in Mr. Bob's name as a retirement gift. The person at the society had a better idea of what to do with that money. Retirement usually means a drop in salary. This person put the $50.00 toward extending Mr. Bob's Audubon membership for another three years. What a wonderful idea! Wonderful story
I gave this book to 12 adults as a present for Christmas. I read it to a friend, and she immediately asked....where can I get this? I bought it for her and she said she'll read it to family members in other States as she visits during Christmas. I can't imagine a person not liking this quick reading book, less than 5 minutes, and not having to read it again and again because of its profound meaning. It's just beautiful, meaningful, cute, and special. It also became a present for a 94 year old friend. No matter the age, this book will be enjoyed.

A CUTE TALE ABOUT LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP
What gift can you get for a special friend? Sometimes the answers to our questions and solutions to our problems are right in front of us. A perfect book/gift for youngsters to adults. You might want to order two so youβll have your own copy. A great uplifting story.

Perfect book
A really cute book, so nicely illustrated , with such a sweet message. I gifted it to my adult son, who always is stating he wants nothing for Christmas. He laughed. It is a simple book which would really be age appropriate for a 5 year old.

Book arrived with black schmutz on the cover
I love the little book but it was to be a gift. The seller listed it as new, but there was dirt (or something) all over the dust jacket. I can't give this to someone as a parting gift.

Story is wonderful, really really lovely. However, the condition of the book wasn't great. I knew it was second hand but expected a little better from the description.

I've already received 1 request for my "Gift of Nothing".
I gave this book to my 2 daughters, 1 granddaughter, 3 grandsons and my 2 sisters. As to date only my 13 year old grandson has decided what he would like his one day with grandma to be. The Walk on the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario. We checked the internet and he is old enough and just requires his parent's permission.I explained to all of them that our lives are just so busy and as they grow older we need one day set aside just for a one-on-one.It will be interesting to see what the others choose to do. I know my one sister stated that she would likely want one day set aside to teach her the computer????? Time will tell but 2014 will be an interesting year just to find out where everyone will guide me.

The true meaning of Christmas?
Again another book I've used in school-this time as an assembly stimulus with 420 4-11 year olds who were transfixed by this simple story about friendship, gifts and nothing! My own children are to old for this now however they enjoyed reading it when I enthusiastically showed it. I will however make it a regular shared reading experience with my new granddaughter.
