Poignant, incredibly well written
I barely, if ever, leave reviews for books, mostly because I don’t feel strongly about most but every once in a blue moon there’s a book that reaches into my heart and gives a little tug. This was such a book. This is 5/5 star book. Plenty of people have gone through the plot already so I will spare you that. Instead I’ll give you my opinion of what Some reviewers have found problematic with this book**** Spoilers*******1. The age difference: she was 17 and he 21 when they first go to bed.... I think part of the story is about “mistakes” being made when you are young and to learn to forgive yourself. It’s not rapey, it’s just two young adults who fall in love and have sex and then have to face the consequences. About that comment of him “grooming” her.... oh please 🙄 he was a virgin trying his damndest to seduce another virgin (even he needed alcohol in that scene)2. Family keeping them separate, angsts and all that Jazz... all I have to say is: well, duh, what are you expecting here, it’s a fictional historical romance, not a darned historical biography based purely on real events.Anyhoo, that’s my two cents. This book deserves way more merit than it’s getting. If anything, please read it. It’s an emotional roller coaster and it’s difficult and uncomfortable but at least you see the romance and the pain which most HR don’t show anymore.

SMH! Disappointed Fan,
So I love reading Lorraine Heath and have read pretty much everything she has written. However, this book was just awful... I could not get by the pedophilia type 'love/obsession' that Finn had for Vivi. He meets her when she is fifteen and he is in his twenties. He grooms her for a two years (she is only 17) until she is "ready" for him. He plies her with whiskey when she is seventeen to 'loosen her up' to be 'ready for him' to have sex... AWFUL! I could not get into this at all... sadly a horrible start..could not get over it!

Goodness! Read. This. Book.
I have been waiting to read the story of Finn and Lavinia for months. I immediately bought it when Amazon sent me an email of its release. I read it in one sitting at the risk of my eye bags getting eye bags. It was that good. This book made me feel and really triggered emotions. A story of first love and second chances. What is not to like? I know some people don’t like spoilers so I will try to relate my reading experience without giving too much of the plot away.Finn and Lavinia met when they were very young (21 & 15). At first it was a deep friendship for years until Lavinia came of age and they started acknowledging their romantic feelings towards each other. Theirs was a secret love affair because Lavinia is of the aristocracy and Finn was an illegitimate commoner. They were very much in love (and lost their virginity to each other, sigh). They were supposed to elope but things went wrong. They met again eight years after. Finn was observing and protecting Lavinia from afar while she does her charity work in the not so safe area of London. Eventually, they had their inevitable confrontation. I will stop here because the plot is just so amazing that you have to read it for yourself to really appreciate it and enjoy it. It will not disappoint. There were secrets and twists and revelations and character’s decisions that made for a good and seamless reading journey. In the end there is a happy ending. And a happy reader—- me. Hahaha.I will wait for the next book in the series. I am glad I bought this because I have a feeling I will want to reread this book.

Beautifully poignant story!
The Scoundrel in Her Bed is a beautiful story of young love , innocence and how when everything goes wrong time, forgiveness and love is the only thing that can make things right.Finn and Viví are wonderful characters that you get to see how time, adversity and loss moldes them into the adults they become.Viví could have taken the easy way out and kept on being the slightly spoiled lady of the ton that she was raised to be or someone that was very bitter but she doesn’t. She decides to leave everything behind and help the many children that needed protection in a time that nobody seem to care about them.Finn was wonderfully caring, protective, romantic and I have to say swoon worthy. (I think he turned out to be in my top 10 of heroes). He was just so forgiving and understanding even when he thought he wanted revenge he was still trying to take care of her.Be ready to feel so many emotions that you won’t know what to do with . You won’t want to put the book down because you just have to find out how they will make everything work out. Get the audiobook that way you don’t have to stop, that’s wat I did.The story is poignant, sad, happy . There is so much love romantic and familial but also hate, ignorance and prejudice. It’ a roller coaster of emotions and feelingsI highly recommend this book

Emotional story around a dark piece of history
Heath's books are always deeply emotional and this one is no different. The plot centers around the practice of baby farming, a method of dealing with illegitimate children of the aristocracy. Baby farming was an awful reality, not a fictional trope. Scoundrel is a romance, but it is in no way fluff. Far removed from the bodice rippers of decades past, books such as this satisfy my need to escape at the same time as expanding my knowledge. I am pleased with the change in the romance genre in recent years. I read romance. I am educated. These are not mutually exclusive.

Long Lost Love Can Grow Again
Lorriane Heath does an amazing job with this story. There is nothing sadder than young lovers being split apart and thinking their partner had abandoned them. Only one thing is worse, to give birth to a child of the man you loved and having it ripped from you arms within minutes of its birth. When Finn and Vivi meet again years later they are both hurt and damaged individuals. They must learn to trust again and to be opened to the love they once had and lost.Parts of this book will bring tears to your eyes but it will only make the Happily Ever After all the more rewarding.

A disappointment
The novel has such a strained , contrived plot that it is annoying. It seems that every horror imaginable occurs to the hero and heroine. The heroine lacks realism, the society of the times is inaccurately portrayed, and the novel falls flat.

Heartbreaking
An absolutely wonderful story of enduring love in the most difficult of circumstances. I wept twice ,long time since I've done that with a book!

Beautiful!
A wonderful story. Perfect mix of love, a little bit of reality and a joyful ending. I'm waiting for the next book in series.

It’s good, but not as good as the others
If you like escapism, you will probably like this book. However the ending was obvious and I found the heroine whinny and victim blaming. Other than that, the lead male character was great.

Emotional story, but didn’t finish strong
I felt for the lead characters and their young love, but lost respect for both as the story progressed. The lead female was forced to suffer too much alone and took too much blame on herself. At first I loved the lead male (he was faithful and not your typical man whore), but sadly, that changes. During their separation she stays chaste, while he sleeps with other women (sarcasm - of course he has needs - in these novels only men have needs that require them to sleep with countless other women, while females obviously don’t have needs and if they do they should take care of it themselves!). He has no right to ask if she’s been with others (when he has been with other women). Really hated how accepting the women in this book are about men ‘sowing their wild oats ‘. Getting really tired of the line “the others meant nothing, it was only a physical need”. Again, women have needs to, but they don’t get to act on them! Give me a H who can be faithful, and can control his ‘needs’ like women are expected to do.Did not like the ending...hero doubted his supposed love for the heroine because she was determined to get her stolen daughter back. If that is the case, he never really loved her to begin with.
