A Second Helping: A Blessings Novel, Book 2

My library doesn't have the full series so after ONE, I needed to know what happened so i Paid for book 2. cause the library didn't have an audio version. I love Beverly Jenkins writings, this is just my favorite series.

A SECOND HELPING: A Blessings Novel is the continuation about the residents, foster parents and their foster children of Henry Adams, KS. When we first met the residents in Bring on the Blessings, the town had financial hardships and was for sale on eBay. Mrs. Bernadine Brown, who was looking for a new beginning, purchased the town. When she arrived in town, she arrived with a vision to offer a home to children in need. With the town's support her vision was in action; the foster parents and foster children had new families and homes in Henry Adams, KS and the adventures began.Now about a year later, Mrs. Brown and the residents, the foster parents and their foster children are more settled and the adventures are still continuing. They're preparing to open a new school along with welcoming their new teacher and his son. While doing so, other patrons descend upon the town; some welcomed, some not so welcomed. The foster children are dealing with their own personal situations and with their foster parents and family's love and support, they learn valuable lessons. Also revealed is the location of the town's infamous resident and his beloved pig.Ms. Jenkins's emotional storytelling brings the characters' stories to life. Their stories are told with reality, passion and depth. I constantly found my emotions stirred while reading. One moment I was laughing, the next I was crying, the next I was shaking my head and yes there were times when I was doing all of the above. Thank you, Ms. Jenkins for this blessings installment and I look forward to the next installment of blessings. Town owner, Bernadine Brown, has swept onto the scene and rescued the unknown town of Henry Adams, Kansas from financial decline. With the fortune she won in her divorce settlement, she was able to turn the town around and begin the process of revitalizing it to a new level of prestige. In the midst of the continued physical renovations, many of the residents experience emotional transformations as well. In addition, new challenges are introduced to the town, including her cheating ex-husband who has the nerve to ask her to consider giving him a second chance. With all of the existing drama (caused by humans and animals alike), and a few new residents, who needs to step foot outside of Henry Adams for entertainment!A Second Helping by Beverly Jenkins was a double blessing! This book is the perfect sequel to continue the story of modern day Henry Adams. With so many problems and concerns hitting Bernadine and the residents, it is amazing to see how they are able to hold everything together and maintain the will keep improving. It also embodies the importance of humor in the midst of trouble. With so many wholesome characters, this title highlights qualities that are important to exercise when working toward a goal for the greater good - honesty, common decency, love, forgiveness and the list goes on and on! The next book in the series, Something Old, Something New, is next in line on my To Be Read list. I have to find out what happens next! I strongly recommend this book to readers that have read the first installment.

Henry Adams is a little town in Kansas purchased on Ebay by Bernadine Brown. After a $275,000,000 divorce settlement she decides to follow her belief in God's statement that to whom much is given, much is expected. She wants to use her money for blessings; so she buys a dying town for several reasons but especially to revive the town by bringing in 5 foster children, expecting this town of mostly senior citizens to mentor the children. It is indeed a blessing accomplishing exactly that. This second book begins to develop the bonding of the children with their parents, and the acceptance of the town. It begins to give us insights into the pasts of the children, but also the adults as all learn to forgive their past, & go on to grow as they help each other.We learn about the 8 year old who wants to be a preacher, a soldier & Preston who find they have many things in common after all, What happened that Zoey can't talk, Liley & Trent, high school sweethearts learn to forgive. You cannot read these books without seeing parts of yourself in the people & the need for the growth that happens when you forgive and move on. It shows us how Bernadine's selfless desire to bless others, teaches this to the people, as they learn how sharing blessings comes back to bless you even more. It so much shares with the reader the joy of giving & receiving blessing. The greatest blessing they learn is caring about each other brings you back to life.

Excellent follow on from the Blessings, loved the story Amari and all the other characters make you smile. Well done
