Review Stripped to its bone, Rensil D'silva's Kurbaan is an edge-of-the-seat thriller that seldom loses its grip on your attention. Credible performances from its leads, and a nail-biting screenplay make up for the plot holes that threaten to eat into this otherwise engaging film. Kurbaan scores for its brisk pacing, and for the fact that it doesn't offer an over-simplistic view of the terrorism issue. The film allows enough room for all perspectives and avoids romanticizing the terrorist as a victim seeking revenge.Armed with Hemant Chaturvedi's efficient camerawork and Salim-Suleiman's rousing music score that never distract from the storytelling, director Rensil D'silva makes a confident debut with a film that is both respectable and engaging. --platform47.comKurbaan is bloody smart. In its taut screenplay, stylish photography and good performances by the cast, it keeps you engaged, does not insult your intelligence and avoids getting preachy. And that's saying a lot for a film by a debutant director. Kurbaan deals with a very loaded subject -- terror, Islam, America and the rest of the world. Something that a bunch of filmmakers have attempted in recent times, and there's more to come. But this one is executed like a classy Hollywood thriller, with some great moments of suspense, high drama, blood, gore and skin. --platform47.comKurbaan tries to penetrate into the psyche of not just the terrorist, but also someone who has been a helpless spectator all this while. This film is sure to spark off discussions and debates, although it must also be noted that it doesn't take sides or gets preachy. Rensil D'Silva has chosen a burning issue for his directorial debut, which is a complete departure from Karan Johar's earlier films. Kurbaan is one of the most powerful films to come out of the Hindi film industry in 2009. The film has a captivating plot, gripping screenplay, super performances and a climax that shakes you up completely. Watching this movie should be on top of your agenda this week. --platform47.com

A plus
Excellent movie. Great plot twists and over all storyline with believable characters/actors and extra ordinarily relevant topic of religious extremism, especially those who want to make America suffer for their loved ones innocent lives lost in the "war" to democratize and assist the middle east to keep peace, while still presenting and making the watcher feel for both sides. I.e. victims and zealouts and how they and their hatred are created. Really makes you think about possible sleeper cells right here in the US just waiting to be activated, and the lies and lives they live until then, with a heart wrenching love story mixed in for good measure. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Nice movie... if you dont mind idiot mistakes
It was a great movie, nice suspence and everything, but the main characters often make idiot mistakes... like not using the telephone to call the cops when you're in need, not run out of the house through the back door when bad guys are entering the front door... not saying anything to anyone whn you have solid proof that you've found a terrorism organism and instead "take care of it all yourself" hahaBut if you can get over those mistake, it's a pretty solid movie. I really Liked it :-)

In Love & War
This movie had me spellbound from the beginning. I must say that Indian cinema has really come a long way. The storyline and plot in this movie was great and the actors themselves were too good.Kareena Kapoor is amazing in this movie as Avantika and Saif Ali Khan was equally amazing as Eshaan. The supporting cast Vivek Oberoi, Om Puri and Kirron Kher should also be commended as they gave stunning performances.Overall it's a love story but as the tagline goes, 'some love stories have blood on them'. The question is whether Avantika and Eshaan's love can triumph over Eshaan's dark past or would their love be the ultimate sacrifice?

"Kurbaan" Good show!
Sadly, "Kurbaan" did not get much exposure in US movie theaters. It is a well-made Bollywood movie. The music is terrific. Great special effects. Dialogue is in Hindi, but subtitles are available on DVD. Plotline may seem "anti-American" to some viewers. Disc #2 was a surprise bonus, especially the "how the explosion scene was done".(Some scenes were shot in Philadelphia; my wife and I were background actors).

FULL OF SURPRISES!
This movie is full of surprises, just like life. The plot involves strong political emotions as well as being majorly disappointed with a spouse. Love conquers all. I would consider this a love thriller genre. The movie was filmed in Philadephia and New York. (I am a minor actress in the Brooklyn Bridge scene).

Recurring theme?
I would have liked to have known that there were subtitles, even though I was pretty sure that there would be. It was similar to "New York" with its theme of religious terrorism, showing both sides of the fence. I don't care about that either way. If you have an open mind, just take it for what it's worth, a decent film.

Good Movie!
I'm a huge movie lover. I came upon this film on Netflix. First of all, I love the main actors. I watch a lot of foreign films including Bollywood films. I can't believe it didn't do good overseas.I thought I was an interesting plot and well acted. Anyways, I really enjoyed this film.

Wow, great film
I loved this film. I normally can't be bothered with subtitles but they weren't too onerous. I quickly identified with the characters. The twist in the plot left me enthralled. I would wholeheartedly recommend this film.

kurbaan dvd 2010
This is not a typical bollywood film, there is very little music in it, it has a great plot and is gripping all the way through, there is a lot of english dialogue and this works very well with the story, I thoroughly enjoyed the film
