24 Flute Concert Studies: Unaccompanied Flute

Overall I’m very pleased with this book. I had this many years ago and my original book fell apart over the years. I love the studies so I had to order another copy. The sheet music is very easy to read. My only complaint is that the book doesn’t like to stay open on the music stand but that is easily remedied with clips. I think this is advertised for intermediate to advanced but I think even a beginner could find value in this book as some of the studies are easily found on YouTube.

The content of the book is fantastic for the developing/progressing flautist. My only gripe is that the book isn't spiral bound as in the picture--and you have to bend back the spine to keep the book open when you are playing.

These arrangements are designed to be played at a quick tempo. There are a lot of eighth notes. It was too advanced for me.

I got this my son to use during his lessons. His teacher said it is a great book.

It's nice to have all the Bach together - but this is printed and bound very cheaply. Either you have to break the binding and have all the pages be loose or you have to put up with the book constantly flopping closed. There are also entire pages that have no title, no identification - just random pieces stuck in. There are also several "bonus" selections that are made up of just one or two pages or a larger piece. The whole thing is a jumble.

The picture shows this to be a spiral book, but it is not. The binding will have to be creased to keep the pages open. Since it is 3/8 thick, I'm afraid that the binding will break down and pages will fall out. I looked at buying this book from several places and I specifically chose this one because it showed a spiral binding. All else is fine, delivery and quality of the book are fine, but my #1 feature is not there.

I was glad to be able to get a copy of this excellent repertoire piece for advanced flutists.
