Not bad but I wouldn't repurchase as there are better books
Not bad but I wouldn't repurchase as there are better books. Pages are thin so watercolors, thinner, or markers are out of the question here, unless you put some kind of backing on each page. I've attached a page of one of the undesirable pics just for testing out my FC Polys for review purposes. Background was done using Prisma Premiers blended out with Vaseline. It's a good thing that they don't print back to back because the Vaseline did bleed through but not onto the next page. Others said this book is a version of the secret garden but I beg to differ. It has many pics of its own and some designs could be similar but they are not. It has a variety of many diff things and brings a variety that secret garden does not. However, if they upgraded the pages, the book itself could be better! If you like to find hidden objects then this would be fun but I, personally, don't prefer it. On the back of each page, there is a list of the hidden objects at the bottom BUT some nimrod printed it backwards LOL so you'd have to look at it through a mirror to figure out what it says if you don't have the gift to read backwards.

which I like. There's 3 things that I wish were different
I bought this book while waiting for my copies of Secret Garden and Enchanting Forest to arrive, and it will definitely keep me busy! It has A LOT of designs to color with varying levels of detail, which I like. There's 3 things that I wish were different, though.1. The paper is kinda thin. Compared to the Dover Creative Haven books, the paper seems much thinner. I thought it would be a problem, but so far after coloring one test page, I haven't run into any problems. I've used Ultra Fine Sharpies, Fine Bic Mark-its, Sharpie pens, Gel Pens, and Verithin colored pencils and the paper has held up well to all of them. I put a piece of heavy 80 lb drawing paper underneath the design I'm coloring so there's no seep-through to the next page.2. The pages aren't perforated. I know I could always cut them out, but I like things to be neat and I don't trust myself to cut a straight line!3. The scavenger-hunt items sometimes detract from the overall picture. Sometimes they're not incorporated well and they just end up being ugly. It's not a huge deal, but I wish they just left that part out.If you can live with those things, then I say get it! It has a nice variety and mostly pretty illustrations.

I like these types of books for adults vs the Intricate ...
I like these types of books for adults vs the Intricate pattern or Tangled type books because the don't repeat a pattern ad nauseum. It is a lovely book, but not near as detailed as the Joanna Badsford books" Enchanted Forest: An Inky Quest & Coloring Book" and "Secret Garden". In fact, one of the pictures looks very similar to another I've seen in a Dover Press book of a watercan full of flowers. So if you have as many books as I have you can get an idea of the detail in this one. Lots of white space that I wouldn't use anything but pencil or crayon on.The paper in this book is thick and not as porous as the other two I mentioned, and that is a good thing if you want to work with gels. I did try a few markers on the back pages and got bleed through. This is fine as the images are printed on one side and blank on the other, but if you work the pages IN the book I recommend placing something behind the piece you are working on as there is no guarantee the marker will bleed all the way to the next page.

Lots of FUN
This is my first adult coloring book, i love it. I do wish the illustrators name was on the book somewhere, I love it has 80 pages of different pictures. I only have found about 3 i am not happy with. one is so bolded it takes away from the design, another is so intricate my old eyes have difficulty breaking the sections apart. i have colored 2 pages already and only had it 2 days. I am not as stressed as I had been. I normally do landscapes with acrylics or pastels but due t other problems have been unable to paint so this is my d-stresser now. I will be buying more of these and the scavenger hunt makes it fun too. I like where the list is on the back of the page to tell you what is hidden there if you cant find them or are unsure of what is a garden hose or something else, is it a worn or a caterpillar? lolI highly recommend this book to others either for yourself or as a gift.

Surprisingly Enjoyable for an Oil Painter
This is my first adult coloring book. I bought it because I heard about Joanna Bosford on the news. However, all her books are out of stock, on back order, or the few available copies scattered across the internet are selling for $50 or more. I want to color now damnit, and I don't want to spend that much, trend or not, on a coloring book. Get real people. I found this and it looked somewhat similar.I am very happy with this purchase. The pictures are of varying difficulty, the paper quality is perfect for my Prismacolor pencils, and the artwork is adorable. I find the coloring surprisingly relaxing and enjoyable. There are lots of pictures in the book. I am still just coloring the first page. Several hours in to detailing flowers and nowhere near done! That's a pro...you'll get a lot of coloring time. As an oil painter, it's nice to have something else to do that lets my brain go analog but still be able to shade and blend with a different color medium.I also bought a copy for my mother after she saw the pictures online. This would make a cute gift for any lady who likes art or needs a way to relax and unwind.

Initially Disappointed but revised my opinion.
1/31/16 revised review. : The paper quality is not the best but using colored pencils does produce a nice finished picture. Paper does allow for nice blending of colors. This was a pleasant surprise. I have also used Stabilo markers. The markers do bleed thru but this is not a problem given the pictures are one sided. I did put scrape paper between the pages so that the bleed thru would not damage the next picture. I have not tried water coloring on this paper, may do so in the future to see results.original review:Very disappointed with paper quality. Quality so poor that imprint of design can be seen from reverse side. There are some nice pictures but only suitable for colored pencils, everything else will bleed thru.

Disappointed
I was disappointed in this book.It was obvious that it was a compilation of illustrations pulled from other books(let's hope that the original artists got their acknowledgement) and in many cases, poorly printed. In many cases it looked like poor cutting and pasting of stock images; really ugly. The weight of the paper is less than impressive(in other words very thin) and quite honestly did NOT make my coloured pencils results look amazing, whereas The Enchanted Forest and Secret Garden illustrations excel.Do yourself a favour and buy either The Secret Garden or The Enchanted Forest and don't waste your money on THIS poor excuse of a book. Shame on the publisher for charging so much as well...

Buenas ilustraciones
