Tamiya 31713 1/700 US Aircraft Carrier Saratoga Plastic Model Kit

This was purchased as a gift. I did not like that the box was not sealed in plastic wrap like others we have purchased from different manufacturer. I hope there are not any missing pieces. When it was opened, the instructions were mostly in foreign language. That's why I gave it 3 stars.

This item was for a present for my brother, who is a High School History Teacher. Our grandfather was in the Navy and served on the USS Saratoga, and my brother has always been interested in learning more about anything history. I gave it to him unassembled, so he could have the opportunity to build it himself. He loved it! Great packaging and great quality item.

Outstanding molding. Well proportioned and accurate representation of a late war USS Saratoga. Will make into a show stopper!

This is a very basic model that you can get for 10 dollars at target. They make it look assembled and complete - STAY AWAYNext time they should indicate that - don't be fooled by the picture - it also require all the paining - CHEAP

I had entered a toy aircraft carrier and this is not a toy. It is a model.

I like this model but you will need a tweezers, toothpicks, modeling knife and a flashlight. And patience. This is not a beginner model. Tamiya models are the best as far as no flash and perfectly fitting parts. It has a lot of possibilities as far as how you paint it and to what extent. Take your time. The deck on mine got a little darker blue than I wanted but I am basically pleased with the outcome. I used a can of modeling spray paint for the deck. No decals come with the model except for the deck and aircraft. I made my own lines on the deck using a straight edge and a fine white pen. You will have to buy the plastic that would represent the water separately, at a hobby shop and then paint it. It is supposed to look like it is in the ocean. You will have parts left over.

Tamiya siempre hizo unas maquetas muy buenas. Es un regalo de Navidad para una persona que disfruta mucho haciendo todo tipo de maquetas

とにかくデカイです。アメリカの空母らしく大味な感じで組み立ては割と簡単でした。ただ飛行甲板の接着が上手くいかず若干の隙間がてきてしまいましたが注意して見ないと分からない程度なのでまー良しとしましたけど。象徴的なあのデカい煙突がとても個性的でやはりアメリカ！ダイナミックな設計！と感激でしたね！
