I manage a fleet of 60+ units. This mount is a go to for Ford F series trucks due to the aluminum cab and the ribbing on the top of the cab that prevents use of either magnetic or suction style mounts. Quality is very good. Assembly pretty easy after you have done once. I typically have installed as part of initial upfit but needed to use some rentals that required a temp install. So I elected to order one from Amazon and self-install. I got in a rush and did not catch that there is a steel version and an aluminum version. Of course I ordered the aluminum in error. I read as “aluminum install application” as opposed to “of aluminum construction”. Made up some new swear words as a result, and it works but not as well as they otherwise do with a permanent mounted light. Magnetic obviously does not work. And the mounting surface is relatively slick and the suction style therefore has a tendency to migrate around the mount and requires the driver to keep an eye on. Off road this would be a real concern and no doubt would require more attention than tolerable. Aside from these issues which are entirely avoidable with some attention to detail, I would recommend. Removal is easy and results in no damage so ideal for a temp application.

The media could not be loaded.  Finally an alternative for being able to attach magnetic safety lights on the aluminum Ford F-150 without having to permanently drill holes in the cab. The light does not come with written directions, only a card that directs you to a website for installation or an online video via Amazon which is a Chevy truck and not Ford. The housing came installed with the metal plated already attached which makes attaching the 1/8 Allen head screws difficult to tighten when installing the plastic housing. After assembly you have to completely remove the bulbs and wiring from the 3rd brake light and fish them through the new housing. The most challenging part was getting access to the two bolts that clamp the housing to the roof. Unfortunately it’s not a straight shot so I ended up having to use a 7/16 ratchet box wrench in order to tighten the bolts securely followed by plugging the 3 bulbs back in to the lens and finally tightening the four screws. The contour of the housing and supplied foam gaskets seem to fit snugly against the cab to prevent water intrusion. Only time will tell if the plastic brake light housing holds up in the Arizona summers.

On 21 F250 the wire for the brake light was not long enough (even after pulling slack and removing grommets) to reach the relocated light. I tried all the prepunched holes. I had to drill a round hole shown in picture. The plastic, I assume adapter for specific vehicles, is very thin and flimsy. It is also not forgiving in the cold. Getting it to sit level is not possible, but close. The seals are not one piece and will allow moisture in. It is also open underneath between spots. I will have to remove and check in the spring if water gets in, or I may have a wet headliner by then. For the price the metal work was above expectations, but the plastic and seals are very disappointing. 5 on the metal and 1 on the rest. Average 3.

Said it would fit a 2021 F150 but it doesn’t level up correctly!!
