Walker & Hawkes - Unisex Wax Outback Aussie Wide Brim Hat - Black

This is a well-made and stylish hat - I'm not sure about the feathers. For me, it has two particular, but related problems. Despite measuring around the circumference of my head most carefully and at the greatest width, it is still too small. I would advise anyone to go at least one size above that recommended. Also, it is shallow, so it can only sit close to the crown of the head. With even a mild breeze, I find myself chasing after it far too often, particularly worrying when walking alongside a river. It really needs straps to secure it under the chin. Material and workmanship are good, but a hat is meant to remain on the head.

I purchased XXL which should have meant a good fit but alas it was tight. Fortunately another family member was happy to receive it. I'd intended to purchase another White Rock hat but Amazon does not sell it any longer. Xl of this brand is a good fit. The Snowbee hat is similar in design. In the end after pouring over Amazon's selection of hats I bought one of Hoggs of Fife via a country clothing store. It fits perfectly.The Walker Hawks hat is well made but sized incorrectly. If you're a person whom has a head diameter over 61cm don't by this hat and know that for a person with a head size of 59cm the XXL fits comfortably.As for quality of manufacture the hat is very well made and will give years of life. It arrives packaged well in spacious cardboard box with the walker Hawks picture of shotgun wielding fraternity aiming at airbourne ducks, in black silohette design on the sides of which was a surprise to me. I had no idea whom Walker Hawks are to be honest. Barbour had been my first choice but they've gone trendy flat cap, peaked caps and the flat cap style stetson and as best I could determine don't in this age make wide brim waxed hat.I'm happy with the Hoggs of Fife hat, it's a good fit and made in Scotland and if I accidentally sit on it there's no damage. Much the same as the non waterproof summer hat of White Rock.

this hat is absolutely gorgeous. Very well made and true to size, which is brilliant when you have a particularly large skull, you can trust the measurements (other sellers have not been reliable on the size of the hat matching the size quoted in the item description).I can't rate the item on its waterproof qualities, as i havent been out in the rain yet.I absolutely recommend this hat.

Brilliant wet weather hat, I purchased a chin strap for windy days separately and used two small safety pins to secure it.Regarding size it was accurate but as the hat is structured it may not exactly fit to the SHAPE of your head. Mine is 90% ok but I suspect that the more I wear it the more it will mould to my shape so I should get that last 10%. It’s been waterproof and as a glasses wearer it’s perfect for keeping my vision clear on wet days!

Nice product & good fit. However, they stank of damp mould!! Very disappointed. Bought 2 as Christmas gifts so no time to send back b4 Christmas. Ended up keeping them & giving them as gifts. They still stink, although it’s a bit better as they are being aired in a warm place. Absolutely awful to receive a new item like this. Would not buy again & would not recommend for this reason.

I had one of these in a larger size, 57, which was huge although all my other hats are 57 and fit perfectly. I returned the hat as recommended by the seller, using parcel force tracking. It cost more than £5. I ordered the small size, 56, which was very small, I gave it away as a gift. Spending another £5 plus seemed ridiculous. I have to say it is a good quality well priced item. The seller would do well to charge a little more so as to be able to fund free returns. The bad sizing would suggest quite a number of returns will be necessary. I have, now some months later, bought another one in a larger size. It fits ---- hurrah!

This is the first hat I have ever bought online. I was not disappointed, it arrived well packaged, lots of protection, clear guidance as to how to maintain its shape, condition and durability. The small feather in the headband is almost the cherry on the cake. The size chart was spot on and the colour was exactly what I expected. No disappointments and certainly no hesitation in ordering another for my partner.

The brim is lovely and wide and it is a quality, well finished item.Only problem I have with it is the darn British wind - with the wide brim it seems to have a life of its own and it's disappeared off down the road on numerous occasions.Maybe they should make a British version with a detachable chin strap hidden in the top to attach when needed!!Anyway, highly recommended.
