My cats certainly like it
I bought this brush/blade about a month ago in an effort to try to get rid of more cat dander from my two, medium haired cats. I was a little iffy about the way it looked design-wise, but it works well. It seems to be able to get more of the undercoat and dander free than our normal, $5, wire brush and my cats really like it. One of them just loves attention so she doesn't dislike any brush I've tried, but even my picky cat (whom I usually have to hold down to brush) will hold still and knead the couch/my leg as I brush her with it.You do have to be more aware of the hair you're freeing since the shedding blade doesn't catch them, but I just pet the cats after every few brushes and collect it in a hairball til I'm done.My least favorite thing about it is that it is kind of sharp (of course, it is called a shedding "blade") and you have to be careful not to brush too hard or you'll hurt your cat. It isn't a big issue for the average cat owner, but my 3 year old is not allowed to brush the cats with it and I have to keep it hidden from him. <-An issue that probably won't affect too many othersI don't have a lot of experience with other nice brushes/blades that help with shedding, but this one works well for me and my cats.

Does what I expected
I have 3 outdoor (though in a protected area) cats that get very thick coats in the winter. They look miserable in the spring, so I looked for something to help them shed--hopefully it'll decrease the hairball problem one of my cats has. I used a metal shedding comb similar to this on my horse and it didn't bother him.I introduced this shedding blade to my cats--let them see it, them gently rubbed it over their sides following each stroke with a petting hand. They weren't thrilled but they also didn't seem bothered, even my touchy gal. Now the temperature jumped and they're looking miserable, so I've been using this blade on them. Oh, now they love it! Touchy gal still is "only if you have to," but she doesn't object and I can tell she feels better afterward. I slowly increased the pressure I was using to a fairly firm stroke, and now my two male cats lean into the strokes of the shedding blade and purr. Some fur gets caught in the shedding blade, but most does go flying into the air. If that's a problem, you can stop the stoke so the freed fur builds up on the cat's rear, then you gather it with your hand. The blade has worked as I expected and it's great for my needs. The cat's fur looks so sleek and shiny when I'm done.

Best cat comb ever!
You would not think so by looking at it, but this is the best de-furring tool ever! I have used it in the past with other cats and just bought a new one years later for my new cat. It really helps grab the lose fur with ease!

Shedding blade vs ZoomGroom
My 17 year old cat needs some help with grooming now that he's an old guy. After reading the reviews I ordered the JW Pet Company GripSoft Cat Shedding Blade and the Kong ZoomGroom for cats. I tried both on the old guy.The shedding blade removed a lot of fur, more than the ZoomGroom did. The downside was that the fur did tend to either gather around the backside of the cat or fly around. I decided to try the shedding blade on my younger cat with shorter fur. I was surprised at how much fur the shedding blade removed since I didn't think the younger cat was shedding. The ZoomGroom didn't remove as much fur as the shedding blade, but still removed a lot of fur and it seemed to capture most of the fur that was removed. The old guy didn't mind either brush since he views any attention as good attention. The younger cat acted like she didn't like the shedding blade, but if I walked away she followed me for more grooming.I thought both products worked well. I'll use the shedding blade and let my kids use the ZoomGroom on the cats.

It gets the fur out!
I have a 5 year old short hair/medium hair cat who sheds fur like crazy. I brush him every few days (twice a week or more) with a normal cat brush that has thin wire bristles and tend to fill the brush with his fur every time, but my bed and couch would still be covered in fur! The fur-minator costs a bit more then I wanted to pay, so I saw the JW Shedding Blade for less then five dollars and figured I'd give it a try. It works! It's getting the fur out no problem, and my cat seems to like it! It doesn't seem to be pulling the hair out, but just catching the thick under coat that the other brush just doesn't get to. Just keep in mind that the brush doesn't gather the fur on the brush. The fur will fall to the ground or fly a bit in the air, which seems to be some of the other reviewers complaints.. I put my cat on his harness, take him outside and go to town with the brush. Now he's all shiney and de-furred, which equals a happy cat owner!

gentle and works well
Removes a LOT of hair gently without touching the skin. Cat doesn't mind it much, once she got used to it. Use a lights touch and keep it as flat on the coat as possible. The small 'teeth' of the blade seem to work like the cat's rough tongue to get at the undercoat.Only downside is the hair doesn't stick to the blade so you need to be somewhere that's easy to clean. I put down a towel first and it caught most of the hair. Upside is you never have to clean it like a brush or comb.UPDATE: Both cats REALLY enjoys it now and even scratch their heads against it when it on the ground. They both act like it's a great back scratcher and let me use it on them until my arm gets tired. Bought a second one for travel. My daughters kitten hates it, but is not a fan of sitting still very long.

Flying Fur
I was amazed at how much fur came off of my shedding Ragdoll . She enjoyed the process and purred while I brushed her. There was a ton of fur flying. It would be best to use it outdoors

Simply Incredible
This brush is incredible! I never knew how inferior all other brushes are till I tried this. After only 3 mins of brushing, my front yard was covered in my Mainecoon’s fur. If you own a fluffy cat, you owe it to them to get this brush.

Fantastic - even for the cat who doesn't like being groomed!
I borrowed a shedding blade that my sister-in-law bought for their large dog to try on my cats. Despite it being way too big for my cats, they actually seemed to like it so I took the plunge and bought a cat one. One of my cats in particular absolutely HATES being brushed but even she will sit for 5-10 minutes and let me use this on her. The other 2 just love it and it leaves their coats loely and soft. The only down side is the amount of 'fluffy' hair it takes out - if it's a fine day, it's much easier to brush them outside rather than have to contend with all the additional hair indoors! A great product and I wish I'd bought one years ago.

Surprising Double-Use!
This actually works pretty well as long as you are careful and you have a cooperative cat. Alternatively, it ALSO works well to clean hair off your cheap Ikea carpets quickly, which is how it gets used in my house more than anything else. There's something therapeutic about scraping hair off a carpet and being reminded that the pattern has lovely colours.

Dream Come True!!!
I have a cat and I have been looking for a brush that will help her with her coat she is a minx calico and she loves to be brushed but I haven't quite found the right brush. Well I thought I'd try this one because I haven't tried a saw one. I have got to tell you I brushed her for maybe two to five minutes and I got more hair off of her than I've ever gotten. This is the best thing i've ever purchased from now on this will be the only thing I purchase. Thank you JW you made mine and my cats Year :)

Use with care as to not bother jinxy-cat
I use this blade after using other brushing products, it collects a lot of hair the others don't, however, my cat is not a particular fan of this one, she tolerates it. It is a metal rake; one must be careful as to not apply much pressure, use short and gentle strokes.

It’s a good one.
I like the grip and the comb manages to do a great job.I had been surprisingly dissatisfied with similar products in the past, but this one does a great job.
