-back lite very useful in low light to pitch black conditions
Pros:-nice big bright display.-back lite very useful in low light to pitch black conditions.-battery life is amazing - fished for 10 hours straight and still had 40% battery life left!-features are useful: uses different sonar frequency from other brands so no interference, frequency noise rejection which acts like a walkie talkie that uses different channels to avoid interference with other humminbird units, 3 different color displays to choose from, zoom, set target, battery life checker, gain/sensitive 0-50, 2 cone feature to display fish directly underneath the hole or around it, and demo feature.-the digital display clearly shows fish on the monitor along with your hook or minnow.-carrying case is handy: unzips on both side to easily take out transducer or battery. Older marcums have a back side that has a window cut out that is a pain when taking out or putting the battery back into the case.Cons:-the transducer cord that plugs into the back of the unit does not firmly fit and often times needs to be pushed in to reconnect the sonar signal. Dont know if this is just my unit but this by far is the most annoying thing that I've encountered with my unit and it only happens (gets loose) when I'm moving around a lot where the transducer cord is being taken in and out of holes. Once you fix it, it should be fine if you are not moving all the time.-would prefer a arm single cord transducer like a marcum instead of the double corded foam support system. I take my transducer out of the hole for big fish but not all the time for smaller fish and sometimes my line gets tangled with the transducer cord.-cord management system is like other units but with the foam support system, the cord seems to unwind itself sometimes when moving around holes. I feel like with the arm system, the cords seem to stay in the compartment more. Annoying at times but still manageable. ..maybe someone can create a self retracting system for better cord storage and management.Overall:I'm still very happy with the unit and the price I paid for it when compared to other brands/units. Yes there are some annoying things about it but they are all manageable. I would still recommend this unit to a friend.

I do not know about this unit yet.
This is my first review. I like the display, I like the 6 colors, I like the features it has but there is one problem that is driving me nuts and that is the digital depth gauge. The read out on this unit is Erratic, The first day I took it out sat in 13ft of water for an hour with no problems, but the second time out I was sitting in 26ft of water and it would jump to a much higher reading then it will climb back down to 26ft. This doesn't happent all the time but maybe 5 to 7 times in 4 or 5 hours. So I thought to my self maybe it was the current.. Okay let go to a week later not in 40ft of water. Same problem, I check the transducer to make sure it is level, check all of the connections, treid the depth in auto and manual mode, and even had a full charged battery. So i tried another test this time in the DEMO mode that they used at the store.. Guess what in demo mode it says 12ft of water, It will run through the frist demo mode fine but when is runs through the 2nd time then it jumps from 12ft to whatever then back down to 12ft in DEMO mode!!!! Not happyI called the tech line they want me to send it in but I need to pay for the freight to ship it there! Well #1 I am in 3 turnaments for the next 3 weeks mainly the reason why I bought this thing. I can not sit here and wait a week to ship then a week for them to do what ever and a week to ship back. They wont send me a New one for a replacement Or even a replacement head unit... not happy!**Update**yesterday I went to cabelas to see what they had and compare there display to mine.. Well they had a ICE 45 working and I sat there for 5 minutes to watch it. There unit does the exact same thing as mine in DEMO mode!!! So are you telling me this is normal??? or does humminbird having problems??? I uderstand lets say 12 to 13 or 14ft jumping but 12 to over 50ft??? I don't know but for 430$ at the time I would expect better, when I watch the marcum LX6 or 7 theres does not do it.

Great improvement on ice fishing success
After reading reviews for ice fishing flashers I narrowed my choices down to a Vex FL-18, a Marcom LX-5 and the Hummingbird Ice-55. The reviews basically said that they are all good and it is a matter of personal preference. I chose the Ice-55 because I thought it had more options than the others. I like the liquid crystal display for depth and the backlighting is good in dark conditions. I really haven't used the 6 colors as three works just fine. The case is a nice thing to have and the handle on top makes it easy to carry although I have read that it can be easily broken. The only drawback I can see from the other flashers is the float setup. It works fine but haveing two cords in the water does not give a lot of room for bringing up fish. The Marcom seems to that the best setup with an adjustable arm that swings out. Of course the purpose of the second cord is to protect the transducer cord. The Marcum hangs for that cord which could shorten the life of the unit. I also seem to adjust the gain more than I would like. I cannot speak for other makes since I have not used them. The gain runs from 0-50 and I will adjust it somewhere from 20-40 and any given day. Overall, I am more than satisfied with my purchase. I like the larger display and backlite options.

I canโt wait to try this out!
I was in the market to buy an ice flasher, so it was a no brainer when this went on sale this spring. Now I havenโt been able to actually use it yet, since there wasnโt ice when I bought it, but it looks so simple to use/operate. That was probably the biggest selling point for me. The ease of use, and all the features that it has, plus the nice case that comes with it, Iโm pretty happy with it already. Now I just need some hard water to sit on! Lol
