Essential reading. A highly original, positive take on Thailand and Thai people
How I moved to Thailand... is a uniquely positive, thoughtful and well-written book on a subject that has spawned dozens of published works. Worn down by life and relationships in the west - the author moves to Thailand in search of a new start. The vast majority of these books are cautionary tales as the author shares a litany of disasters and the reader is left with the feeling that they've dodged a bullet if they've never touched down in Bangkok. I spend at least 2 months every year in this bewitching country and - having read many of these books - I've invariably come to the conclusion that the author brought the issues on himself. There was a massive gap for a book that shows what can happen if you set about the transition in the right way. This book delivers that in spades. It works on many levels - you can instantly relate to the author's struggles to find a partner in the west - and he offers the recipe for how a guy with Jai dee (Thai for good heart) can revolutionise his life with a move to Thailand. If you buy any one book about Thailand and you are left with the feeling that it's a scary place - you have to read this one too as the (far more accurate) antidote. The author knows Thailand, he's lived there for years and this comes through on every page. Highly recommended.

A beautiful love story.
Simply a beautiful love story! It's a lovely story, with a wealth of fine observations that will be valuable for many people. Delightfully written - in a style that's so easy to read (and so difficult to write). I've little doubt you'll enjoy this story, whoever you may be.

Live the Dream!
"A fun read even if you never leave your armchair, though Scott's great story of living the dream in Thailand could be the one to change your life forever." -Andrew Hicks, author of THAI GIRL and MY THAI GIRL AND I.

How he turned his life around and went from failure to success - and found love too - is quite a story
What an inspiring story! I have read the book twice and how he turned his life around by moving to Thailand is quite an inspiring story.Scott was lonely and unhappy in an old age community - and unlike most people, he did something about it! How he turned his life around and went from failure to success - and found love too - is quite a story! I totally enjoyed this quick read and think you will too.Enjoy reading.

Great read
Scott couldn't find love in America, so he looked in Thailand, the one country where age doesn't matter to most women and where men in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and even 70s are still much desired. He found his dream girl, and has been happily married to her for 11 years now, living in a stunning house that might cost the same as a small extension or a loft conversion in the UK. I know. I've met Scott and his wife. I've been to their house and we've spend time in one another's company. Scott's goal in writing this book isn't to sell books- he's sold millions of books already. Rather, it's to tell you his story and to teach you by example how it can be YOUR story too. The wonderful life he's living can be YOUR wonderful life too." - Frank Hurst, UK crime thriller writer and author of The Postmistress of Nong Khai and The Chiang Mai AssignmentFor Find the Love of Your Life in Thailand:"Lots of guys arrive in Thailand looking for love, and leave empty-handed. Or they make some mistakes which cost them a fortune or even ruins their lives. In this book, 50 men who came to Thailand looking for love tell you their stories: what they did right, and what they did wrong, and then they and the author each give you their best advice for how to find the love of your own life. They say "Experience is an expensive teacher." With this book you can learn from the experiences of many others like yourself - virtually for free and in practically no time!" - Frank Hurst, UK crime thriller writer - author of The Postmistress of Nong Khai and The Chiang Mai Assignment Scott couldn't find love in America, so he looked in Thailand, the one country where age doesn't matter to most women and where men in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and even 70s are still much desired. The author is a gem of a human being
I have to admit that this book was not exactly what I was looking for. I bought it to look more for budgeting as I am married and have been for over 20 years. So in that regard I will say that the Found Love part of the title is a bit more emphasized than the cover might imply. Having said that though. It is an enjoyable read and the author replied to my feedback in such a kind manner with more information related to what I was seeking. I count him as a friend now, never having met him. Part of this is because the story must be true. He sounds happy and replies in a manner that infers he is living like a king. If nothing else it is a great tale of how someone can find what most everyone wants in life. A companion, an affordable place to live, an enjoyable lifestyle and a better way to live. I'd recommend the book on that alone. Some of those I can check off as covered and reading this book may be the start to checking off the enjoyable lifestyle and living like a king for my queen of 22 years and myself.Addendum: After thinking about this I realized that this talked a bit more about the author than the book. Although what I was looking for was covered less than that I anticipated. The story is also a great one that chronicles how much there is to be seen outside the US, with much less stress, money and minus the daily grind of life that likely lead us to buying a book like this in the first place.. Who doesn't want to identify their priorities in life clearly, goto where each can be met and succeed in such a manner that one finds love, companionship, family and an ideal community. This author has and my wife and I are heading that way as well.

Good Interesting Mans Journey
Enjoyed reading this mans journey from the Us to early retirement in Thailand. Thought there were maybe a few bumps along the way left out but still well worth a full 5 stars.RegardsWayne Freeman

Does not specifically tell HOW
It is misrepresented in its own title. Take off the "How" and you have "I Moved to Thailand, Retired early, Built a Mansion, and Love Like a King pn a Dime. It's a whimsical story with very little helpful information. I want to move to Thailand and do everything that is included in the title but this book has absolutely no information about how he actualy did anything eating at resteraunts, other than geting dressed, getting off a plane in Bangkok etc. Nothing practical to tell anyone else how to achieve the essential tasks necessary to achieve moving, retiring, finding love, building anything or living on a dime.I judged a book by its cover.Change the cover Dude.

Good Fun...
A success story, as well as a love story. But it wasn’t only because of where this man was, it was also what was in the man. Scott is appreciative, sincere, genuine, culturally sensitive & enlightened, considerate and thoughtful. He has reaped what he has sown. I wish him, his wife, and their family happiness, peace, love, fulfillment, and prosperity...
