Rugged Elegance
I am enjoying my pen. The fact that it is recycled gun metal gives adds to my flexible style of edgy writer. I received this pen as a gift and am very pleased. The pen has its own serial number which is symbolic to the individuality of being a writer. Thank you for this beautiful piece Cross.

Love it!
Love this pen. I have trouble writing with slim pens, they make my hands cramp up when I have to write a lot. And being a nurse I write a lot. The pen is perfectly balanced and very comfortable when writing a lot. Definitely recommend.

Nice pen, nice cause
“…and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks;nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”…and their guns into ballpoint pens. Isaiah would be pleased. At the top, I have to say this Cross is one of as about the nicest pen I’ve owned. I have found a renewed interest in returning to longhand writing; if nothing else it takes the sting out of writing checks. It’s a bit large in the barrel for my medium-small grip, but only a little, and only takes a little getting used to I have also noticed a bigger size such as this usually means less fatigue while writing lengthy pieces, which hardly anyone one does anymore anyway. The mechanism is smooth and solid, changing refills is a snap, although judging from the size of the reservoir, you won’t need to change very often. From the Liberty United website: “Each year more than 17,000 American children fall victim to gun violence. Traditional solutions have failed to make a real difference for these kids. Cross is proud to partner with Liberty United to take action in the fight against gun violence. By purchasing this beautifully crafted writing instrument, you help give new hope by supporting programs that educate and protect at-risk children in the most violent neighborhoods in America. Your purchase of a piece from Liberty United funds gun violence prevention training for one teen and gives them a Liberty United bracelet when they complete their training”Moving on, the whole “made from melted down guns” thing slightly escapes me. Make a statement with your pen? I guess, the satisfaction of knowing part of your pen purchase goes to a worthy cause. (And may be tax-deductible, ask your CPA) As a visible statement and probably only if you loan it to someonet a conversation started to get the word out about the fine work the folks at L.U. are doing. The serial number of the gun used, we are told, is embossed onto the barrel and highlighted with the orange color that differentiates between real and toy guns. In case you miss it, there’s a likewise colored orange band around the beltline, just below the “Liberty United” inscription. Also in “safety” orange.“Liberty United donates 20% of profits to fund programs that protect, educate, and train at-risk children in partner communities. Liberty United donates 20% of profits to fund programs that protect, educate, and train at-risk children in partner communities.”So a good way to advocate for the surrender and destruction of illegal firearms, and try to raise awareness of this rampant problem in the US starts with a pen which comes imprinted with a gun’s serial number, has a small metal button at the top of the housing made from the residue of a melted, surrendered gun. It is more or less gunmetal colored, and one of the first things to strike me- so to speak- is that my first reaction to the shape was that it reminded me of the Bell X-1 aircraft, first to achieve supersonic flight. A non-sequitur? What has that to do with a pen? Simple: the X-1 was modeled on a .50 caliber machine gun round. Oh the irony- but that’s just the way I see it. For some reason I’d prefer to think the whole thing- except the ink- was crafted from a recycled weapon. And that the serial number was a pedigree, I really was wondering what type of armament this tiny tab came from.As a pen, first rate. As a statement- read the writing on the wall.BTW, after several months use the actuator either dropped a spring or just failed, but until I find a fix the pen is sidelined for the moment.-------------“(The book of) Daniel presents a strong case for the absolute sovereignty of God, even over a multiplicity of self-absorbed foreign powers. This theme of sovereignty occurs on numerous occasions, including Daniel’s deliverance from the lions’ den, his friends’ rescue from the fiery furnace, and the future arrival of the Ancient of Days to save His people from the forces of evil (Daniel 3:23–30; 6:19–23; 7:9–22).”

My new favorite pen!
I love a good pen, and have been on the search for a non-fountain pen that has the same heft and diameter and quality construction that doesn't cost a fortune, and this Cross fits that bill perfectly. Bonus points for the Liberty United initiative for taking guns off the streets and this is the perfect pen. Probably going to buy several--either as back-ups or as gifts.
