This is the supplement which is more useful than the Publication Manual (6th ed.).
This is a "supplement" section of the Publication Manual of American Psychological Association (6th ed.), which should have been included in the APA Publication Manual (6th ed.). If you're already familiar with the APA Style (5th ed.), you may be able to get by by only purchasing this book as it contains straightforward streamlined explanations of how references entries need to be constructed. Although I love the policy of publishing the Kindle version only for this guide (presumably based on the somewhat archaic view that only people who buy Kindle version of books will use electronic version of psychology articles.), it is worth killing trees to make it available in the printed version as well. Every psychology student uses electronic sources for their term papers. Seriously, when was the last time you used a photocopier in the library? One serious omission: Curiously, it has no section specifically for the journal articles published in an e-journal that is published only in the electronic format (that is, it is not advance publications for paper version of journals). Although an entry for this can be extrapolated, the use of the doi number without referencing to page numbers may be confusing.Complaint re: the doi information recommendation from CrossRef:Speaking of the doi, I don't know about you but I hate the ugly implementation of a questionable CrossRef recommendation to include the entire permanent URL string for doi (e.g., [...]. This is rather stupid. Life is too short to worry about adding the URL string "[...] to all entries in the reference list with the doi information! Psychology students are advised to focusing on more essential life skills instead. ;(

Page Numbers
Some of the page numbers are different than the printed text. Other than that, it was quite useful for the course that I purchased it for.

A Higher Education Necessity
Consider the sheer volume of electronic books, periodicals, literature, video, audio, and other media that, in order to give proper credit to the source, must be formatted to allow a reader to be able to look up that source. Unlike its parent book, the Publication Manual, 6th ed., this style guide does not go into formatting of a thesis document or other report, but focuses in on electronic sources only. That said, no doubt students will continue to be confused by APA. Some observers would just say students are lazy, but I have never known an instructor to actually teach APA format, other than by providing examples, so students can only be blamed in part. This addendum will help clear matters up.

Importance resource hurt by poor navigation
I applaud APA's good intentions of making their style guide to electronic reference available as an ebook. It is filled with helpful information on citing an enormous array of sources in a academic writing. However, searching and navigating through the book are a difficult and tedious process. The magnifying-glass Search icon is woefully inadequate. There is a Table of Contents, but its categories are so broad as to be useless; browseable subcategories for the References section like Electronic Journals, Audiovisual Materials, Social Media, etc. would be really helpful. In addition, there is no Index; which is a big handicap when trying to look up something specific. I really hope the next edition includes these basic features.

Librarians advice, fix the search and navigation features!
I had the physical book but lost it so I picked up the digital version for a quick fix. It ended up being a quick fix but the navigation and search techniques on the digital version were horrible. I had to look twice as hard to find the information I needed. When I had the physical version I could use the index and be able to find information much quicker.Considering I am a librarian and I am all for the digital revolution, this digital version needs some TLC in terms of navigation to be able to de-throne the physical book.

It's OK
This book has a lot of info I needed for grad school, though all of the info can be found online for free. My prof asked us to buy it. The index is misleading... I'll consult a page after locating the term in the index, and then the term will not be on that page.

This is a good quick reference, especially when it comes to electronic citations or references
The spa format is very clear and User friendly. The rules are clarified with examples. I just love using the 6th tradition

Excellent tool for researchers and students
The APA Publication Manual is the standard in the social sciences, but one of the weaknesses of the 6th edition is that it is hard to find just what you need to use the proper style for documenting electronic resources. The information is there. It is just often hard to find. This Style Guide fills that gap very nicely. It does what it says it will do - shows how to document electronic references, and it is easy to use. My Kindle version is always with me. As a mentor for PhD students and a researcher myself, I am glad to have this and I now recommend it to all my doctoral students.

Easy and quick
Everything you want in a guide, no fuss and easy to find what you're looking for. Definitely worth the money.

Useful
Good book, but they keep changing the rules. The electronic version is best because it is easier to find the arcane rules the APA devised. The rules for APA and MLA are like jazz: no one fully understands or can explain the subtleties, not even the players.

it is a very good resource. I have the Kindle version of this ...
While it doesn't seem to answer every question that I have when referencing online sources in APA, it is a very good resource. I have the Kindle version of this and the hard copy of the APA Publication Manual 6th ed., which is another excellent resource.

Excellent choice
The best companion to the APA manual, a must if you use a lot of electronic references in your academic writing.
