This won't look good as time passes...
Jokes about gun sales with ease and little control, jokes about misleading someone into physical intimacy for personal gratification without respect to the object-person's desires, jokes about therapists becoming physically intimate with clients, jokes about slaughtering wildlife rather than finding a non-destructive solution, jokes about deeply-held, worthy and useful, familial affinity; this whole script isn't so funny.I'm old enough to remember how ugly the "slapstick" (violent injury and assault-based :comedy) seemed to a decent person. Laurel and Hardy used to hit each other and the laugh-track tried to say that's funny. I knew as a small child that wasn't something to laugh at. This film's jokes make me think of Al Jolson singing "Mammy", made-up in blackface. There are many serious questions to be answered before considering this an harmless display of attractive people, interacting. These are talented / useful actors (producers/designers/etc.); this vehicle seems an unworthy use of their abilities.I have to seriously question the values presented as normal things, of casual amusement, in this film.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. And not at all funny.
This movie is, by far, one of the stupidest, poorly acted, predictable, cartoonish NOT funny movies I've ever seen. The idea is funny and unique but they drop the ball and stop trying the minute the movie starts. I think they were trying to do an Adam Sandler film, but they failed very badly. All the actors seem to sleepwalk and wait for the ridiculous dialog to be over. This was not meant to be a serious film by any stretch of the imagination. However, they try to push some serious touching "life lessons" toward the end of the film that is forced and nauseating. They don't even try to make any of the characters even slightly relatable, which I didn't think was necessary for a comedy, but you notice the difference from the lack of it. One of the worst movies of any type I've ever seen.

main acters have no chemistry!
I love matthew and sarah as actors separately! but together, it is very obvious their attraction for eachother is completely fake. I love romance movies but since I can tell that they arent into eachother in real life as displayed by their fake smiles and forced awkward romantic scenes, it just kills it for me. Could have been a great movie because the plot is very funny and unique. Not enough chemistry between the main acters to sit through the film as the humor is cheesy enough as it is. Needs a little more to make it worth watching! kate hudson would have been perfect for this. I love them together in ten ways to lose a guy. their connection was very enchanting and real!

Not a clean chick flick. Sex scenes, make outs and drops the F-bomb.
The story is fun, but I felt like there was a lot of unnecesary sex scenes, and that the main characters didn't really have good chemistry. It also drops the F-bomb too. So really not my style. It has quite a few crude jokes, sex scenes and heavy make-out scenes.

Just so-so
The situation is a serious one when a child does not want to leave home, and is still living with their parents in middle age. And in this case, not due to poverty. But the comedy just doesn’t click, and in some cases objectionable. Shooting a song bird is not funny. Deception is not funny. Animals biting people is not funny. Seeing Terry Bradshaw’s backside is not funny. This could have been a sweet movie and there certainly was enough talent, but it was not well used.

Pointless
I tried to watch it through, but found it not funny, not relatable, and not anything near true to life. I know it's fiction, but fiction does have to mirror reality. This one didn't. And I didn't get any feeling of chemistry between the two leads. Overall not very watchable.

Abysmal
Matthew McConaughey is better in serious roles (in my opinion). He just comes off as a doofus in this. I liked Zooey Deschanel and Justin Bartha, especially the mockingbird scene. I thought that was really funny for some reason. The little kid, Tyrel Jackson Williams, is talented. Bradley Cooper--unremarkable. Kathy Bates--too talented for this idiotic movie. Terry Bradshaw--this movie is just his speed. (Sorry, Terry--like he cares about my opinion, ha.)In a nutshell: I couldn't wait for it to be over.

A MoMMa's Boy !
With this movie .. You will "Win some & you Will lose some"., The reviews were pretty poor but there is always a different flavor for someone else. Sarah Jessica Parker may not have much on screen chemistry .. with her co-star Matthew McConaughey ... but the message they were sending is one that many of a parent. May not ever forget ... seeing that most of us. Leave the roost by 18-20 years of age. Leaving ho,me was a given for me .. I knew I wanted to break free and I wasn't having any of that . Hanging around ..and living off my grand parent's dime. I have seen many of story on the national news .. Regarding a adult child staying at home until their ready for college, marriage or just "too darn lazy" to pack a bag. Then let their soles of their feet.. travel a path .. the path .. of direction toward's .. their "DREAMS". I couldn't see staying at home with a parent ..unless they were ill or dying. Jessica didn't come off sleazy .. just hollow inside . Imagine you are a so-called therapist..? Your job is to "lure" an over the "Legal " drinking limit guy ,. out of his parent's home..? Well if you have a relative or friend who is living in this boat..? Encourage him to watch this movie..? Just invite him over for dinner ..(Your treat).. and during dinner.. Spring this movie on him..! Kathy Bates and former NFL Terry Bradshaw play the parent's..? WOW ! Every parent must prepare their child for this .. journey .. This new adventure in their life... If not... they will become a failure .. By the way .. I left home at 19 years and .. NEVER looked back. The script was a bit dry .. but had the writer's did some changing of how the "Stay @ home child" gotten in that position .. a bit earlier or gave it an additional twist ? This movie wouldn't have so many poor reviews ...-^

Fun Comedy
If taken as it is intended - a light comedy about the failure of mid-thirties men to leave home - then this is a fun if quickly forgettable hour and a half viewing.Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker star as the failed to launch and the mixed up launcher, though there is little on screen chemistry between them and ultimately they "fail to launch" themselves. It is left to the supporting cast, especially Zooey Deschanel and Kathy Bates to save the film and they turn in excellent performances to do so as Sarah Jessica Parker's room mate and Matthew McConaughey's mother respectively.Overall, a decent twist on the romantic comedy genre and a bit of light fun viewing.

Harmless
McConaughey is a 30+ still at home, his parents (Bradshaw & Bates) hire Parker as a girlfriend to encourage him to move out. She then ends up falling in love with him, but he ends it when he finds out what her job is. Do they work it out? I won't spoil the end of the film, what kind of a girl do you think I am?!This is a real middle of the road film. It's a good concept, which fuels the story along as to when he'll move out & as we realise Parker's hung up on him. There are some really funny moments, especially with Zooey Deschanel as Parker's flatmate. The pacing is fine. But I didn't love the ending, they get locked in a room together in the hope they'll work it out...?!! It's just not enough of a climax for me hence missing a star.

An intelligent RomCom
I am an old chap so normally avoid romcoms, but I've watched this one several times. Intelligent funny, the sub plots are nearly as interesting as the main, and the characters are believable (except of course for the strange things that people do in order to create a bit of suspense, and then to have a happy ending (sorry if I spoiled it for you -- but it is a romcom so you probably guessed).
