Happy with this product
I ordered this after I tried a sample of Dr. Lipp's Nipple Balm for Lips, which is pure pharmaceutical grade lanolin. I loved it but wanted to find something a bit less expensive. The tube packaging was attractive to me.Compared to pure lanolin, this product is a bit stiffer and more waxy. If I apply it cold, directly to my lips like I would a lip balm, it's too stiff, and threatens to cause a split or tear. However, if I hold it against my lips for a moment to let it warm up that's not an issue. It's also not an issue if the tube has been in my pocket--but in that case it's quite melty and tends to over-apply. You don't need much of this stuff. One advantage of this product over pure lanolin is that it's less shiny. Lanolin can look kind of like lip gloss--this doesn't. Better for most guys I'd think. My only issue is that the twist mechanism on one of my three tubes is broken, and the product won't twist up.

Want to break your chapstick addition? This is the ONLY product that worked...
Did you know you can become addicted to chapstick? It's true. I researched this a few months ago and found that some chapsticks and moisturizers make your lips become dependent on their product.I, sadly, am one of these people. If I wasn't bringing a purse somewhere, I was sure to throw some chapstick in my pocket in case I had the feeling that I needed it. When I do need it and don't have it, I can't concentrate on anything else. It's like when you can feel food stuck in your teeth. After reading extensively about this, I knew I had to do something. Not only was I addicted but I was CHAPPED too.For me, this started with "Pregnancy Rhinitis", which essentially means you're congested during your pregnancy. I was constantly breathing through my mouth and this started the chapped lips. I kept them lubed throughout my pregnancy with eos and vaseline.Apparently, vaseline, while good for skin is BAD for lips. So are products with menthol. The best thing you can do to recover is to use LANOLIN.I had some lanolin left over from breastfeeding (nipple ointment) and started using it on my lips. I also immediately purchased this item. It's only been a few weeks but I cannot begin to describe the difference. My previously chapped, nasty lips are HEALED. (Queue music.)PLEASE do what the other reviews recommend: only DAB this on your lips. It's too soft to be dragged across them without wasting a ton of it.I'm still using chapstick but only about half as much as I did before, and that amount is slowly decreasing.I never could have gotten to that point without this product.

soft lips
The product is fantastic! Makes my lips nice and soft and it stays on for a very long time. My only issue with this product is it should not come in a twist-up tube like this. Its too soft to rub on, you have to use your fingers. I wish it came in a little bowl instead.

Exactly what I needed!
I'm going through some weird phase where my bottom lip has been dry and feeling raw and sometimes stings. I'm not a lip-licker and it's definitely not a cold sore(s). It reminds me of the time I took Accutane in my 20's and had to have Carmex in every pocket and purse! So naturally I tried Carmex, but it's medicated and stings. I have tried all sorts of other lip balms, but the problem is having to reapply so often. I tried vitamin E, straight lanolin, olive and coconut oils, even A&D ointment. Lanolin is wonderful but not easily portable (I bought a tube of nipple ointment which is straight lanolin). Aquaphor is nice, too, but expensive for a small tube and again, I find I have to apply often. Bag Balm has so far been the best, but the even the smaller metal square tin is also not very portable. The other brand of lanolin that comes in the tubes here on Amazon are great, as well, and I actually like the gooey nature of them bc it stays on longer. However, I wanted to try this brand bc I saw that there was beeswax mixed in so I thought I'd get a little more of a solid product and hopefully the same kind of stickiness. You kind of just dab this stuff on. It's perfectly sticky, moisturizing, and there's no odor. I pray this "phase" goes away soon!, but in the meantime, it's just what I was looking for and will probably buy another set soon to make sure I always have some with me.

But that's what lanolin is supposed to feel like. My lips get dry and chapped easily
I read some other reviews, saying this is too sticky. But that's what lanolin is supposed to feel like. My lips get dry and chapped easily, and I need something that can do heavy duty. I also hate the waxy feeling a lot of lipbalms tend to have. I started using lanolin nipple ointment on my lips after reading a tip somewhere, and it worked like a magic. The problem is, one, it feels funny to take out a huge purple tube that says 'nipple ointment' outside, and two, lanolin is extremely temperature sensitive that it is watery in warmer weather but gets really hard and squeeze out when it's cold. I was looking for an alternative and found these. I was a little bit skeptical if they could keep the material in bar form, and if they do if it could keep the nice moisture feel of lanolin. And this product does exactly do that. Yes, it is a little too soft during hot season, so I won't recommend carrying around with you when it's 90 degrees outside, but you probably don't need this much of intense moisturizer during winter. It still holds up, but gets put on quite heavy. But during the winter, it is a lifesaver for dry lips. Thank you for doing such a good job putting lanolin in such convenient form to use.
