A good little wireless speaker that I don’t worry about
Last year, I ordered a pair of Back Bay EQ 40 wireless earbuds and have used them for running ever since. The other day, I saw a notification that Back Bay had released a bluetooth speaker for $40, and figured I’d give it a shot because I liked my earbuds.Summary: this is decent-sounding, extremely affordable Bluetooth speaker option that I’m not afraid to toss in my bag, bring to the gym, or take to the beach.Likes:- Price. I also own a Bose Soundlink Mini ($200) and, while it sounds better, I’ve always worried about treating it roughly because it’s fragile and expensive. I’ve found that I take the Newbury speaker with me more often because I don’t worry as much about something happening to it. This is selling point #1 for me.- Design/Build. The design is solid and it looks like a high-quality product. I love that it’s water-resistant and can take a beating (it fell ~35 ft off my balcony railing and still works great). It’s not built as nicely as the $100+ all-metal options, but the mostly-plastic construction means it’s extremely light and portable.- Battery life. I haven’t tested it fully (24 hours claimed) but I’m more than willing to bet those estimations are spot-on.- Sound quality. For the price, the speaker sounds great. It will fill a medium-sized room with sound and is pleasantly audible outdoors. It’s a relatively balanced sound, with good highs/mids, and good-for-the-price bass.Dislikes:- This is minor, but the blue power indicator icon flashes while music is playing. I didn’t notice it for a while until I used the speaker while folding laundry in the evening.- When the speaker starts up, it plays a tone at whatever volume you turned it off at, then says “Pairing… Connected” at medium-volume. I wish there was a way to turn this off but it’s not a dealbreaker.I think the Back Bay Newbury speaker is a great option for you if you’re looking for an affordable, good-sounding bluetooth speaker that lasts all day and can take a beating.

Rivals Bose at half the cost--and it's water resistant!
I'd bought headphones from Back Bay before and loved them. I didn't even know they made speakers, but when I saw that they did, I decided to try them out. I have two portable Bose speakers, and the Back Bay speaker is far superior in terms of overall sound and bass response. It also gets louder than Bose and still manages to sound crisp and clear. The cost of the Back Bay speaker is far more reasonable, too. It's definitely become my favorite. I'm thinking of getting a second one so that I can try out the "double-pairing" feature.Pairing is quick and simple with a pleasant voice that announces when pairing is successful (which I prefer to the tone I get when I pair other speakers). The battery life is phenomenal too. I've used it for three weeks and I haven't had to re-charge it a single time.If you're looking for a small but powerful speaker, you can't go wrong with this one from Back Bay.

Great audio, easy set up, portable size
I've used the Back Bay earbuds for about a year, and saw that they launched a Bluetooth speaker right after my old iHome died. This is one of the best speakers I've bought, and hands down the best portable one I've tried at this price point. Out of the box, set up was fool proof, and the sound was awesome - lots of depth from the bass, the volume can be turned up loud, and the vocals are always clear. Great product; I highly recommend it

A lot to figure out
Summary: the speaker is viable, but there are some things to tolerate and others to figure out that aren't intuitive. 3-1/2 stars.+ Solid exterior, with rubber on top and bottom if it's in a vertical position and on the bottom if in a horizontal position. Above average sound, projects a good distance, e.g. I could hear it at the top of the stairs when I had it on from about 15 feet from the bottom of the stairs. Price point is good, and you can save money by buying direct when it's on sale. I bought a second speaker this way.- Speaker controls are rubber buttons, with icons that are - unfortunately - the same color as the rubber, so they blend in. There is a sound when you press the on button, another when it's off, and the power button lights up blue when it is on. The speaker doesn't power down after a period of inactivity, and there has been no indicator for remaining battery power or whether it's low on power, although I may have inadvertently left it on and a verbal warning may have been given when i wasn't in earshot. The cables that come with the speaker are very short and they may need some jiggling to establish connection. I suggest that you use a static USB charging plug as opposed to a laptop that is in use if you're moving the laptop to get up periodically. The instructions are the typical minimalist that is commonly seen these days, and you may experience some differences. For instance, it took several times for me to get two of these speakers to play in stereo. It took me several times to get it to success with the verbal "Stereo Connected." It's best to have the two speakers next to each other when you do this and start with both off. When done (step 5 in the instructions), only one of the two speakers will be paired in Bluetooth, although since their titles are the same, one cannot tell which one. Fortunately, it doesn't matter.

Good quality product for the price.
I really enjoy the quality of the sound of this speaker, i'm impressed because i've never heard of the brand and tought "well it's 40 Usd, it's kinda cheap, let's see how it goes" And works just fine, gets the job done (nicely) and for a good price.

The best speaker under $50
This is the best speaker out there for the price! I’ve used the JBL Flip and the Oontz Angle. The Back Bay Newbury Speaker blows away the Oontz angle in every category. The sound is much more clear and full, and it can get much louder. It also has a much more appealing design and I can use it as a shower speaker! This speaker has a similar design to JBL but it is way lighter and 1/3 the price! The JBL sounds slightly better (but definitely not 3x better than Back Bay). I highly recommend!
