Copra is Michel Fiffe's take on Suicide Squad, specifically the John Ostrander run from the late 80's. Completely self-published. Fiffe's wrote drew, colored, inked etc... the whole book and it is completely the vision of one person. The story is pretty good but the real reason to check out Copra is Fiffe's art, which is colorful, expressive, and totally unique. His character design is great, from clearly homage characters to totally original ones composed solely of geometric shapes or a brain in a jar on mechanical legs with glue on eyes and long feminine eye-lashes.His page layouts are also quite amazing, Fiffe almost never uses a straight panel grid instead the action spills all over the page which asks of the reader a bit more than a standard comic in terms of sussing out what is happening at any moment. Fiffe tells a lot of the story through the visuals rather than just explaining what is happening, it is left to the reader to put the pieces together themselves.Fiffe really is quite an amazing creator and I can't wait to see where the story and especially his art goes as the series continues.

Great read

A lot of fun, but the only thing I felt it does differently is the visual style. Definitely influenced by Suicide Squad (even has a few near rip-offs), but struggles to work when the characters don't have history.
