Masterchem Industries 43140 Hammered Paint, Black

Hammerite is the way to go if you are looking for the ULTIMATE hardening, rust-proof paint! We have been building offroad trucks and jeeps for years and by far, Hammerite paint products are the best for durability. The color quality is top of the line as well. This paint can really take a beating in the woods, rocks, or anywhere offroad. I will continue to use Hammerite for my rough-riding paint projects . This paint is tough. It really is hammer proof as I tested it on a set of step bars that I sanded down, primed, and painted with Hammerite black. Once it dries, it's not chipping or flaking off. I never got around to re-finishing the passenger side step bar and it's completely rusted through, I had to junk it. 10 years later (sitting outside in the sun) and the drivers side step bar painted with Hammerite has no signs of rust at all. I love that this is a single stage paint, but holds up like a 2-stage paint with hardener.

I could not get this stuff to come to a consistent texture. It would either run and give me a hammer texture in some spots, or I wouldn't lay it on thick enough and wouldn't texture very well. Others may have better luck spraying this instead of brushing on like I did. Took me a few tries to end up with something "decent" to me.

I have used this item for many years now. Fantastic for outdoor metal. I especially use it for my dump truck body, the equipment trailer, etc. It is very good to store. Clean out the rim, pound it shut and after several years you open the can and it is ready to spread again. No skin, no settling to the bottom. So much better than Rust...m!

A great paint for rough surfaces such as metal brackets, wrought iron and cast iron. It applies easily with a brush and looks great when it dries, hiding surface defects. Be careful in a cool climate, as it has a tendency to run if you put it on too heavily. By the same token, it flows out well and hides any brush strokes. Very durable and glossy when it dries, I like the hammered look for metal as it has a real industrial appearance.

Expensive

I own a small farm and this paint is a must to keep on hand. I painted a farm bell with this 14 years ago and it is still looking good. I keep it just for those special items I want to last and last.

Used this paint to restore an old vise.Worked great. Went on super thick but leveled out nicely without drip marks.
