Great Paint!
I have used the Hammerite paint in the past on a rebuild I was doing on a Suzuki ATV. I had the frame and the plow parts sand blasted and then brushed on the Hammerite. The paint after six years sill looks new and there is absolutely no rust. My latest project was to clean up the underside of a 38" mover deck from a lawn tractor. I first had to scrape our all the old caked on grass and then used a drill with a wire brush wheel to remove all the rust This deck had not been touched in about eight years and it was solid rust. Once down to bare metal, I painted it with Hammerite, Excellent Product. Highly recommend it for those jobs that you need the best paint that money can buy, at least that I have found!!

Bad Product
I rarely write lengthy product reviews or negative reviews, but I hope this will help you. I have been painting for 30 plus years and have painted just about everything (i.e. autos, metal wood items and many other surfaces). I recently decided to restore a flatbed trailer that I had owned for years. Since this product claimed to encapsulate rusted substates to prevent further rusting, it seamed like the perfect product for the job. The claims were that the paint contained small glass particles/flakes that would interlock to seal the substrate to prevent further oxidation. This may be true, but if you can't keep the paint on the surface it will not prevent rust! Many years ago, I learned that surface preparation and cleaning is critical to achieving good adhesion and a high quality paint job. So for many weeks, I labored to clean any loose rust off the surfaces stripping many areas to bare metal with high speed grinders, abrasives and wire wheels. Since this product claimed to be self-priming the bare metal would be fine to directly paint over. Prior to paint, I used acetone solvent to wipe-down the entire surfaces to achieve a clean surface to ensure proper adhesion. Acetone evaporates quickly and doesn't leave a residue. To spray the coating, I had to thin it a little with lacquer thinner to get it to spray through an HVLP paint gun. The coating was not easy to spray since any over sprayed areas would result in dry areas and leave a dull finish, but if you were cautious you could achieve a wet look or glossy topcoat. Every detail described on the product spec sheets was followed, but the paint has not achieved good adhesion. I applied 3 coats and waited the 30-45 minutes before recoating. I used a smooth black gloss version that claimed to be hard dried in 72 hrs. After weeks of drying the paint is still not hard and easily mares and peals from the surface. After all my hard work and the expense of purchasing this paint ( over 2 gallons) I regret buying this product. It simply did not work well. If I had it to do again, I would definitely purchase another product instead. I am hoping that after a month or more of drying that the coating will be harder. I have included pictures and a link to the product instructions that I used[...]

Hammerite is the best paint for outdoor ironwork!
I have used this paint before, in the seventies and eighties when I lived in England. I used it to paint car chassis, because it was the toughest paint I could find. When I say tough, I mean it would withstand the car being jacked up without the paint getting cracked off and rust starting. That's tough! This order I used to paint some iron gates and a fence that I had made, and I had to deal with some surface rust on the iron because it had been outside while I waited for good dry, warm weather to paint. It covers rust no problem, as I knew from using it years ago. The finish is slightly mottled, which is perfect if you want to hide brush strokes and surface irregularities, but be aware if you want or expect a flat finish! Awesome paint, I will definitely use it again now I know it is available over here!

Hammerite is the best for durability!
Hammerite is the way to go if you are looking for the ULTIMATE hardening, rust-proof paint! We have been building offroad trucks and jeeps for years and by far, Hammerite paint products are the best for durability. The color quality is top of the line as well. This paint can really take a beating in the woods, rocks, or anywhere offroad. I will continue to use Hammerite for my rough-riding paint projects . Can't beat their quality OR their warranty! These opinions and experiences are my own. I do not receive monetary compensation for my evaluation and I am under no obligation to provide a positive review. Just leaving good feedback where it is deserved!

The shipping box was just fine, no damage
The shipping box was just fine, no damage.....but what I found inside was unexpected to say the least. Take a look at the photos. These unusable cans had to be packaged like this.

Good Stuff
I bought the black and green for some hobby restorations. The black is super black and the green is a wonderful dark emerald green. This paint is very thick, skims over fast, and hard to get on smoothly. It says on the can not to thin but I tried to anyway. I used about 20% as much MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) as paint and that helped enormously. This paint dries very slowly. Use it outside or with good ventilation and give it 3-5 days before you even touch it.
