The advantage of having multiple styles ends up being a disadvantage. This razor just didn't work for me.
I waited a while to get this razor. I liked the idea of the versatility and using it in different situations. This razor ended up not being the one for me. I just have problems with the open-comb ("rake") side and kept nicking myself no matter what i tried. I've been wet shaving for 2 yrs so nicking daily was not common for me. The shave itself was a struggle for me to get close and the aggressiveness of the open-comb definitely left me sensitive and irritated more than normal. I'm not saying this is a bad razor, just that it didn't agree with me for some reason. One thing I think will be consistent with all is that you don't realize how much you use the double-side in normal shaving. With only one side to choose from for each pass - the passes went much more slowly - with far more rinsing during each pass. This you can't get away from. This razor just didn't do much good for me and I was said to accept this given how long I had it on my mind. And for the price it was a rather expensive "fail" fro me. I've switched to vintage razors (i've purchased an american and british Aristocrat) and HIGHLY recommend going with vintatge razors. They seem to have a much more natural angle and the Aristocrats have a very very nice feel to them.Being vintage you'd think theyd' be expensive. They can be. But they don't have to be if you look around, know what yu're looking for. It definitey is true that the modern razors just don't feel or shave like the vintage ones... I don't even touch my Edwin Jagger anymore in favor of my 2 aristocrats and a Weishi bronzed copy of the aristocrats.
