ATTENTION all 2011 - 2016 Chevy or GMC HD trucks
Truck to trailer considerations:I feel that I do quite a bit of research on products before I make an online purchase but in this case I had quite an oversight. I measured the hight from my truck bed to the bed rails and then from the bottom of my 5th wheel to the kingpin so that I was sure that the adaptor would be long enough but the one dimension that was neglected was the length from the gooseneck to the bumper and the from the back of the 5th wheel to the king pin. The Andersen 8" offset adaptor is marketed for standard and shot box trucks so I just knew, considering the fact that my truck is a long bed, that I wouldn't need it when in fact I do. If you have a 2011-present Chevy/GMC HD with a B&W goose neck turnover ball hitch, you will notice that it sits just about 6" forward from the center point of the axle. You will actually need the offset hitch if you want to be able to make any turns without wiping out the lower front end of your trailer.Andersen Ranch Hitch Adaptor:There were a few different adaptors on Amazon that I was interested in before I chose this one and the reason is this.1. No other 5th wheel to Gooseneck adaptor will mount more securely to the kingpin than the Andersen will. Get onto YouTube and look at instalation videos of each Adaptor that you are considering and it will be obvious.2. I had the Andersen Ultimate hitch and though I didn't have any love for the hitch and was convinced that I would never use another Andersen product again, they did do one thing right with it and I assumed that it would have been the same on the Ranch Hitch Adaptor. The ball and cup was a snug "chaterless" fit with a greaseless pad inside of it. I like to call it the "Smooth operator" but unfortunately, that is not featured in the Ranch Hitch Adaptor. On this one, you will have to grease your ball and cup and it has a lot more slack than I had hoped for so even though I have not been able to pull with it yet, I'm sure that it will be quite "chattery" while on rough or bumpy roads. All things considered, once I get the 8" offset stinger for my hitch, I'm sure that I'll be satisfied with the thing. I'll be sure to post an update as soon as I get it going down the road.****UPDATE****OK, so I got the 8" offset stinger in and on the camper. The first thing to note is that it does in fact have the greaseless composite cup which makes me very happy! It's nice not having to worry about the wife griping at you for messing up your nice clothes while coupling or decoupling the trailer! The other thing is that before with the straight stinger, the tailgate could not be opened. Now I have about 3 or 4 inches of room between the open tailgate and the 5th wheel. Now for the very most important part about this hitch, my 5th wheel has never EVER pulled this well! No chucking, bucking, clanking, wiggling, nothing! It is solid, secure, and so very smooth! I have been trying for the last 2 years to find my hitch solution and this is it!!!

Solid and Well Engineered Hitch
The Anderson hitch has exceeded my expectations. The flared flange makes a HUGE difference in docking with the 5th wheel ball because the ball doesn't have to be lined up perfectly like so many other hitches. I mounted the bracket for the release cable on the left rear bottom of the king pin box and it is easy to reach from the rear of my Freightliner pick-up truck. The mechanism is stout and the cable slides in and out easily. The tube and flared insert are extra heavy duty and the installation took less than an hour including welding to the base of the king pin box. I would suggest using silicone to seal the seam between the base of the box and the top of the hitch to eliminate any possibility of water penetrating the seam. This is a tremendous product!

Best conversion hitch on the market
I’ve put these on every trailer I own. Super easy to hook up and easy to install. When installing, keep in mind that you will either need a slide hammer or a gear puller. Also you will need to either weld or drill the hitch to keep it in place. I typically go with the welding option.

Great fit
I used on of these for years on my own 5th wheel and so when my mom want to use this set up I most certainly recommended this adapter. You may want to secure this permanently and if so I would recommend to have a professional do this due to the abilities of a novice and some of the tools required.

The Ranch Hitch by Andersen Manufacturing
This is a top notch product. Andersen Manufacturing should be proud. I love my Ranch Hitch, this is the second one I have had. The first went with the first 5th wheel trailer I had which was sold. Now I have another 5th wheel trailer and I put a new Ranch Hitch on it. They are great to put on, and they are a blessing when you back up under them to load the trailer. Great product, can't say enough good things about it.
