Rockville W8T4-S2 8" Shallow Mount 1000w Car Subwoofer, CEA-2006 Compliant 2-Ohm

Replaced the stock sub in my kids mdx. Still can barely tell there’s a sub there, but it probably running on like 4 watts rms too. As it breaks in, it’s getting better. Hopefully it lasts, been installed for like 3 days now. Still an improvement over stock even if extremely minimal

I bought this for my 2013 vw JETTA GLI it fits in the space perfectly almost like factory and the sound is perfect not too Bassy just perfect (car comes with fender sound system)

Edit: Had to reduce my stars from 4 to 2. Reason being I was listening to a song and heard a whisping sound coming from the sub. The surround became loose from the basket. The glue that was used to adhere the surround to the basket failed and air was leaking past the surface. The glue was pretty crappy, wasn't uniform, and was hardly tacky / sticky at all. Rather than deal with a return to probably get the same results I removed the glue and used RTV adhesive to glue it back together. Worked very well. Sub holds air and hits pretty hard (rattles mirrors and windows) for an 8. If the manufacturer were to address this problem it'd be a really good sub...Decided to take a chance on this sub, was going to get the Pioneer but this looked interesting. Basically my requirements were 8" and shallow mount. Sub got here a few days early which was nice. Upon first inspection it appeared to be a very well built sub, very nice thick butyl rubber, large magnet with vented pole, just looked nice and robust overall. The "Rockville" trim ring is a hard rubber and can be removed, which I did. The surround was glued to edge of the basket, but not a lot of glue (which was kinda a concern of mine so I'm guessing the trim ring aids in keeping that secure to the basket). So this was advertised as a depth of 2.5...it's not, it's 2.91 which for me was a big deal. That extra 7/16 called for a box modification which could have been a problem otherwise. Got this installed in a ~ .33 cubic foot sealed enclosure paired with a Boss R1100M amp...actually sounds really good! Reproduces low frequencies well, throws nice, can produce some nice rumbles, I'm sure it would sound better in a ported box but space was limited for me. Haven't really gotten on it yet, was going to break it in slow but I feel pretty confident, plus the company appears to take pride in their products and has a nice warranty. So overall I'm pretty happy, I'll give it some time and see what happens but I'm confident this will do the job nicely and consistently. I'm giving it 4 stars due to the mounting depth and the lack of more adhesive for the surround to the basket. There was also a data sheet that came with the sub I'm attaching for anyone interested...

This sub changed the dynamic of my system which is by no means high-end. pushing factory amp in my 2001Tahoe to a Cheap deck and good 300W door speakers. Fit very nicely into the factory enclosure that came with the vehicle.Not sure how it performs under some amplification past factory but very noticeable improvement to the factory amp. I would buy another if I needed 2. I may update this if I up the power but I think it will be more of the same.

Lovable bass

Initial impression is surprised. Shallow 8 inch subs aren't typically known for creating big sound. These deliver in a big way. Paired with Rockvilles DB11 amp this sub comes to life with hard, deep bass. Aound is clean and doesn't sound like it's being over worked. You can fit this in a shallow enclosure with ease so it's perfect for replacing a stock subwoofer.

Total overkill for my use, and exactly why I picked it. Built it into a cabinet to use with the rockville bluetube amp and love it. Doing speaker cabinets next but it even makes the cheap speakers we have now sound decent. Can't wait to hear it with the new speakers.
