Great Blinds & Great Customer Service - Ensure you Research the Right Motor!
I ordered Yoolax blinds for my own home. They were exactly what I wanted, easy to install, and easy to connect to the app. I had such a positive experience that I encourage my parents to also replace their dated blinds with Yoolax blinds as well. I had an even more positive experience helping them with their order. My favorite features of the blinds are the ease of installing the brackets. I did inside mount for my blinds and it's as simple as putting in a few screws and pushing the blinds up into place. They are just as easy to pull down for maintenance. Just push inwards and let go and they practically pop out for you. The order, regardless of size, includes a single remote that is already programed for your blinds. So it's easy to use out of the box. If you desire, the remote is programmable and I had no issues changing the groups to allow for different groups of blinds together in different rooms. Especially when I helped my parents install their blinds. The remote comes with batteries as well and a small mounting bracket to attach to the wall. When it comes to choosing a motor, do your research. For my own home, I went with the bluetooth motor, not realizing it didn't work with my smart home system. I have to use the Yoolax app to control my blinds. However, this is entirely my bad and not the company's fault in any way. For my parents we got Matter Enabled motor, so they could connect it straight to their Alexa device. The setup for this was incredibly easy as well. If you want more detailed information about the different motors, Yoolax's own website has great details. You can also message the seller for more information as they are incredibly helpful. A helpful feature I discovered on my own blinds is the ability to set a false bottom height that is higher than the full extension of the blinds. In my own home I installed a window air conditioning unit. It was incredibly easy in the Yoolax app to calibrate/reprogram the blind to prevent it from closing on the AC unit. When I ordered my own blinds, it came with a detailed physical instruction manual. When we ordered them for my parents, it came with a handy QR code and beautiful and easy to use digital manuals for installation, remote functions, connections to various smart home systems. These digital manuals were specific to our order, showed matching pictures for each unit, and included videos of each step as well. When installing my parents blinds, we had an issue where we discovered one of the wire antenna's for the unit had been damaged during installation and could not connect to the smart home system as a result. Although this was likely our own fault, it was an accident and went unnoticed by us for a few days. Yoolax replaced the part entirely for free. When we reached out to the seller (Yoolax) via Amazon several days later, they asked a few follow up questions and sent us a replacement part to fix this. This level of customer service, ease of installation, and professionalism in their manuals will have me recommending this product to friends and family for years to come. If you are curious about the aesthetics of the blinds, there are many customization options (at time of purchase). I'm partial to the shade roll coming down with the shade closer to the window on inside mount. I would say the upgrades for looks are worth it, considering these will likely last a long time. I got just white for my own while my parents got a fabric gray and beige of some sort. I will say I regret saving a small amount of money by not customizing the features of my blinds. You can though save on some of these extra spends if need be. When it comes to their black out function, if you do inside mount and measure it precisely, they do a pretty good job of blocking light. There will be a little leakage of light around the edges of the blind always, as there is a gap between the fabric and rest of the casing where the motor rests. But for the one I measured well in my own apartment, there is very little light leaking through. For the one I did not measure as precisely, there is a fair amount of light that leaks around the edges. They also do a pretty good job at handling a lot of smart home commands when you get the correct motor. Statements like "Raise the shades" are recognized as partial movements for example, as opposed to "Open the shades". You can also specific percentages you want open. Such as, "Open the blinds to 30%." I have no issues with the smart blinds recognizing various voice commands that feel generally intuitive. There is also automation options, though I have not tested these personally. When it comes to my set with Bluetooth motors, because there is no hub to connect to and only my phone, smart commands do not work nor does automation. It takes my phone time to connect to the blinds and as a result, the phone isn't connected during the correct times to take commands or pass along voice commands. Like I said, do your research on which motor you want in your units. The blinds opening does make a small amount of motor sound, but personally I would say they are quite quiet. They handle closing on objects and other obstacles generally well and I've yet to see them get damaged in these scenarios. Overall, I would highly recommend not only these blinds personally but Yoolax products overall. I've had such a positive experience with both the product and the seller, that I'd easily recommend them to others.

A room darkening shade that is worth every penny
This shade is awesome. The company confirmed my measurements and a few days later the shade arrived. The color is perfect for the room. The temperature drops significantly when we lower the shade. Though the instructions are a bit vague, we installed it in less than an hour. It fits our large west facing picture window perfectly. The hardware was easily installed and very sturdy. If you’re on the fence, I would recommend getting it. It was money well spent for us.

Review of Yoolax Motorized Blinds
I love my new motorized blind! It's quiet and fit exactly as I measured. There is a definite learning curve to ordering and installing, however. In ordering, order the exact size that you want - the company does not make adjustments to the size you put in your order, it's best you make the adjustment yourself. For instance, for an outside mount, I measured the exact height and width of the window opening. Then I added 6" to the height and 6" to the width to get the measurement for my order (the extra 3" per side is what Yoolax recommended for an outside mount. The company will message you and ask you to verify the measurement as an added precaution. The measurement you put in the order is the exact measurement your blind will be, so if you have doubts, you can message Yoolax through Amazon. I found them to be responsive and answered all my questions within 24 hours. Also, if you purchased samples for your blinds, Yoolax will refund you the price of your samples upon ordering which is nice. I received the item within a few weeks of ordering - was quicker than I expected, so that was great. The installation of the blind was very simple. The directions were easy to follow. I installed the blind (84" width) by myself. The remote control worked from the beginning and is easy to use. The color/fabric I chose works perfectly with my room, so I am very happy. So my biggest issue was integrating with Alexa. There was a big learning curve in getting the blind to work with Alexa without purchasing an additional hub (the whole reason I ordered this blind). I had to order a specific Alexa Echo Spot - I thought I could use any recent version of Alexa Echo, but no, you must use the 4th generation (it costs about $100). It took two tries to get the right Alexa equipment, but then Alexa did not recognize the blind controls. This led me to contact Yoolax again. They had me reset the blinds, and once I did that, I was able to use Alexa with the blinds. So this was not a quick setup - it took a couple of weeks to really fine tune Alexa to work with my blind. Now that I have everything set up correctly, I think this was a good buy and I would purchase blinds from Yoolax again. The price point is so much better than the Lutron Serena Shades at 3 times the price (which I also have). Lutron Shades are hard-wired or run with batteries whereas Yoolax Shades are charged. You charge it once and you get about 100+ uses before you need to charge it again. I just hope it lasts!

Good product, great value
Update 2021-05-30: The blinds have been working well for the 6 months I've had them... until today. The solar panel driving one of the two no longer outputs any voltage. (The other one I measured at 3.5 volts.) I plugged it into the wall and waited an hour and that did charge the battery up and the blind is working again. The next day, the blinds were working okay again. The solar panels seem to have a decreasing sensitivity to light, so my problem may have been due to a long week of rain... hard to say. Plugging them in for a day to charge them seems to have helped, so I'll continue to report on what happens down the road. Expanding on my original review: To get the blinds automated, I had to purchase an older Echo device that had a Zigbee hub built-in... once I did that, it would work with too much trouble (but when instructing Alexa to operate one of them, she would always report that it wasn't communicating, yet it would still do what we wanted, so we just ignore that message). Original review: I installed two Yoolax roller shades today. It took a LONG time to get them, but they had some COVID-19 related delays that they had no control over. The roller shades have a nice looking material and came with a valance built into the unit. They were packed well and ours had no issues, but I can see where an errant drop might cause a dent. The installation process was straight-forward and relatively quick. They suggested two people work together on the install, but I was easily able to handle it alone, even though my shades were almost 6-feet wide. The mechanism that holds the unit in place is well designed but the tolerances are tight, so it took a little bit of work to make sure the units were engaged properly. The shades came in the correct size but seem perhaps 1-inch longer than we'd prefer; this might be my fault for not measuring correctly. The material we selected was supposed to be 100% opacity, and it does appear to be that. All light is blocked except for what gets around the edges, which is normal. The remote control is fairly simple, requiring a 2032 button battery (not supplied). We also got the solar panel that -- in theory -- will keep our roller shade batteries charged up. I'll have to update this review in a month or two and let you know if it works. No doubt it will be related to how often they are raised and lowered. Since our need to do that is only once or twice a day, I'm not expecting any issues. There were two long USB cables and one short one, that provide a connection between the shade unit and the solar cell or wall plug/converter. I would have preferred two of the short ones. I have yet to try any connection between my smart home and the shade units, so that will have to wait for an update. Overall, though, if you can wait for the product to arrive from China, the savings vs. other roller shades is substantial. The company was very helpful during my long wait, and frequently called me from China to let me know the status. That was appreciated.

Fantastic Quality for Price; Works (P440) with Alexa
I don't write many reviews but I noticed a lot of confusion around the Alexa functionality in the reviews here, so I thought I'd clarify a few points so others didn't need to spend as much time as I had spent linking to Alexa. First, the shade itself is fantastic. It definitely is black-out. Some light of course escapes from the sides but they tell you to allow for this in your measurements if you go with the outside mount like I did. The motor is not loud at all, in fact I think it's slightly quieter than some of the bigger name brands friends of mine have. It does at a couple points make what I can only describe as a slight grinding noise when raising or lowering the shade but not a huge bother. Installation is not complicated, but if you have a wide blind like mine, you will probably want a second set of hands to help hold it in place while you level it and mark your drill holes, since a level mount is critical. As for Alexa, I ordered the P440 smart motor, which supports the ZigBee protocol. What this means is that you either will need a separate ZigBee hub to connect it to your Wi-Fi, or one of the Amazon Echo models that has a ZigBee hub embedded in it. So, some of the older descriptions say the shade is only supported by three Alexa models, but there are I believe five or more now. I for example purchased the Amazon Echo 4 (not on the older descriptions as supported). Just ensure that whatever model you buy includes a ZigBee hub. Pairing the motor is then as simple as pressing the small reset button on the end of the shade four times, followed one long 3-second press, which will pulse the shade once, and then it's in pairing mode. (This is shown in the instruction manual, but it's a little confusing to decipher.) At this point, ask Alexa to "find new devices" and she'll find it after a few seconds via her built-in ZigBee Hub. One note: The commands to "Open the shade" (or whatever name you give it), or "close the shade," do not work. Rather you have to say to what length specifically, so "close the shade to 100%" will put it all the way down, and "open the shade to 0%" will open it all the way. It cannot support fractions of percentages, so if you set a custom open or close point, it won't be able to stop at that spot with the voice command unless it's on a round number percentage. For example, my custom close point is about 97.5% of the length, but I have to choose 97% or 98% with this feature. However, the capability to establish a routine is extremely helpful. Now when I wake up and ask Alexa to "start my day," this includes opening the shade. I also set it to close the shade about 20 minutes after sunset each day, which it will compute and activate automatically. Don't let the other reviews and questions confuse you. As of at least November 2020, the Yoolax shades with the P440 smart motor DO support Alexa models that have a built-in Zigbee hub, with easy setup. All in all, very happy with this purchase.

Very nice blinds, easy to install. I have both zigbee and bluetooth I recommend bluetooth
first I will say that ordering these custom blinds from amazon was something I was a little worried about, and the interface is a little clunky putting in all your measurements, the seller has gone to great lengths to make sure absolute precision and accuracy is made during the order, even emailing back as part of their workflow to make sure you re-confirm before they custom cut everything in their factory and mail to you. I live in NYC, it took about 10 days from order to delivery, which was faster than I expected. the blinds are cut exactly to what you tell them. they look great, and the motors are silent and very precise. I purchased this set of blinds with the zigbee motor and another set of yoolax blinds for another room with the bluetooth hub and motor, after using both, I suggest the bluetooth. as an engineer, I was attracted to the idea of not needing a dedicated hub, and having it go directly to an amazon echo, one less device we need to keep running on the network was my thinking. What I noticed was that the current version of the amazon echo devices seem to be eliminating support for zigbee direct, they appear to be moving to favoring bluetooth or connectivity through a smart hub, so I had to procure an older, yet still available amazon echo 4 to connect to the zigbee motor. In the process of linking the zigbee motor was a little odd. the Amazon Echo 4 sees the zigbee device, and will add it, however until you also download the yoolax app, and connect it to the echo and link the yoolax app to the amazon echo, it will not operate reliably. I also had to make routines in the alexa to make the blinds go up and down with keywords, im not sure if that is user error or not, but its working very reliably now. Ill contrast this with the other set I bought for my other room with bluetooth motor and the bluetooth hub, I plugged in the hub to usb power, opened the yoolax app. it found the hub in 2 seconds without prompting, found the new blinds that I had just installed and turned on, downloaded firmware update automatically, then my alexa app on my android automatically said "we have found your new blinds!" and boom, they were running without me even doing anything! I also have a free google home display that google gave me for being a Fi cellular customer, I dont use it much but it is in the same room as the new bluetooth blinds, so another benefit of the bluetooth hub is that I was able to link them to my google home display in that room, and control those blinds via voice, so the bluetooth is also nice in this regard also since it works with a variety of voice assistants. given the reality that you need the yoolax app no matter which motor you use (zigbee or bluetooth) I think the overall experience with the bluetooth hub and motor was way more accommodating, and since zigbee usese 2.4ghz just like bluetooth, I guess there isnt much of an advantage to zigbee anyway.

Purchased 8, wasted $1000s, don’t make the same mistake!
I really wanted to love these, and for the first nine months I did. We installed eight of these smart blinds throughout our home and initially they worked reliably: automation was convenient, and Alexa integration made daily use easy. Unfortunately, after about the nine-month mark, the reliability started to fall apart — and then it became a full-blown failure. What went wrong: • Blinds began intermittently failing: not responding to commands and sometimes not moving up/down. • Alexa integration became unreliable and eventually stopped working entirely. • After a power outage a few weeks ago, all eight blinds became non-functional. None will integrate with Alexa and none will raise/lower properly. At this point they’re basically just stuck window coverings. Customer support experience: I’ve been going back and forth with customer support for months trying to troubleshoot. I followed the steps, kept testing, re-trying, and sending updates. The problem is: when you have eight blinds and they all fail, this isn’t a “user setup” issue — it’s a product reliability issue. And the amount of time and effort required to keep these running is not acceptable for something that’s supposed to be “smart” and convenient. Bottom line: If you only need something that might work short-term, maybe you’ll get lucky. But based on my experience, these were reliable for about nine months, and then the system became unstable and ultimately unusable. I’m now pursuing a full refund because I don’t want to keep spending time trying to fix blinds that shouldn’t be breaking in the first place. I can’t recommend these, especially if you’re outfitting multiple windows and need dependable performance.

Get blinds/shades to your liking!
I had to give a review! I needed to replace my original window blinds and wanted one that was easy to install and blocked out the sun and heat. My room gets the hot afternoon sun in Florida and my old blinds would just make my room hot and stuffy (at the point they were just blinds because of the name). This new blind now keeps my room a bit cooler and MUCH darker. The window size is not standard so i had to find blinds that can be made to size. Came across these motorized ones and the process of choosing and customizing was fun - i didnt realize you could really customize blinds to your liking, for example, I got mines with a magnetic charge so when its time to charge its just an easy pop in pop out. You can choose which side you want your charging location to be (left or right) you can choose which side the blinds roll down (reversed or forward, mines reversed) it has a "valance" option, mines is with "no valance." I highly suggest you guys put it as it covers the roller. It was my mistake in not adding it. (Not sure if its something i can buy separately from the same seller? Maybe not since its all one piece...) all these options give you an example or reference image so you know which piece is what and how it will look. Im sure it has more options but I got this blind a while back and its still at 100% battery. After purchasing, the seller contacts you to "confirm" all the details, definitely review just incase, you never know or maybe add new items? After confirming, shipping and delivery was quick. Dad installed it and it was super quick! We used the manual it came with to install and to setup the app. The app itself was pretty quick to setup as my blind is just Bluetooth connection. The blinds do come with a control already programmed. Overall, highly suggest these blinds. They're thick, feel like it will last 30+ years, and best of all keeps that afternoon hot Florida sun at bay. Oh! I get migraines often and these blinds are absolutely part of my bestie group which includes medicine, an ice bag, and now darkeness. Absolute bliss. Peep the pics and video!
