They're America's ultimate weapon. Charlie Sheen (Platoon), Michael Biehn (The Terminator) and Bill Paxton (Twister) team up as three of America's finest Navy commandos in this pulse-pounding adventure that brings out the heavy artillery for explosive action and breathtaking suspense "that will leave you clenching your teeth" (The Washington Post)! The Navy's elite SEAL (SEa, Air and Land) squad is made up of the best of the best: supreme warriors who take on dangerous missions no other fighting force would dare attempt. Sent to rescue the crew of a U.S. aircraft held hostage by mideast terrorists, the SEALs know that their skills will be put to the test. But when they discover that the terrorists have seized the plane's arsenal of deadly Stinger missiles, they're thrust onto the frontlines of the battle of a lifetime.

Good Action Oldie!
I enjoyed this show :) It's not supposed to be a documentary, and it isn't a modern, slickly filmed, movie; so, don't expect it to be or judge it for not being those things. However, it is a solid 90's action flick with good actors about the SEALS. Kick back & enjoy! As an aside...To the reviewer who stated or critiqued the show like he was stating facts, and said, "When have you ever seen SEALS with long hair?" The answer is whenever the mission calls for it. SEALS and other special operations groups like the GREEN BERETS are oftentimes authorized to ignore military dress & appearance regs when the operation calls for it. So, maybe get your facts straight before you try to pass off your opinion as truth. Semper Fi!

How did this get into theaters?
This seems more like a chopped up collection of scenes trying to piece a story line together rather than a hollywood feature film. Surely it's a propaganda piece and a recruitment tool... I am ok with it. We need more good guys in this world. Its disappointing that Bill Paxton didn't have a larger role. I remember watching this in theaters when i was a younger teen, and things like quality didn't really matter. Charlie Sheen was cool then. The .50 caliber using the scope to see through and shoot through walls was cool. until i watched it tonight, that was about all I remembered about this movie. after seeing it again, that's about all there is to this movie.bad actingbad dialoguethe actions scenes were decentthis story would be worth a "do over" remake. modernize it, expand on the team character roles a bit, develop the characters and the plot, get the NAVY involved and let them show off a bit. it would be good as fictional action, with humor coming from "hot shot" character.

Watchable but paper thin in some regards
I hadn't seen this movie since it first came out, so I bought a copy here on Amazon and after watching it, I quickly remembered why I was lukewarm on the film years ago. This is an action film that definitely fits the 1980s style of Hollywood action movies. In that respect, it's pretty good. A large portion of the film is actually dedicated to action scenes and operations. However, that's also part of the downside of the movie. There is very little character development or even plot development for that matter. The movie seems to be little more than a series of scenes in which the SEAL team flips between the US and missions in the Middle East, with no mention of the travel time between. Since the debut of this movie there have been so many movies, documentaries and books about these kinds of units and others that the movie seems kind of quaint and out-of-touch with reality. The supposedly Arabic venues don't seem too bad, but the Arabic actors are a bit cheesy compared to those in more current films, and as mentioned before, the SEAL aspect seems a bit contrived and unrealistic. However, if you can put those concerns aside, this is a fairly watchable film. The characters that make up the SEAL team are interesting and even quirky in some cases without going over the top and the Middle Eastern situations are just realistic enough to make that part of the movie seem plausible. If you like 1980s action films, this one is worth checking out.

Dated and Cliched Cold War Film
I wanted to like this as it reunited Michael Biehn and Bill Paxton from 'Aliens' and was an early (1990) Hollywood tribute to the the elite US Navy SEALS, before their service in the Gulf Wars and Afghanistan and the removal of Osama Bin Laden by Team Six. Unfortunately this is ruined by a tired and lazy script about Stinger missiles held by Lebanese terrorists, who are portrayed as cliched 'ragheads'. Charlie Sheen gives a smirking and unconvincing performance as a unconventional rule breaker, who in reality would never get a hundred miles near a disciplined military unit. The scenes where the unit are shown off-duty are also cliched.Donald Trump probably thinks this is art.

Great SEALS !!
I have known this film since I was a kid , so nothing unseen !! Love the start when the team get a wedding interrupted for an op in the mediteranean with captured US chopper pilots .The team save them in the nick of time with a great... 4 point entry with black cladd gear and MP5 SD6 carbines or if you prefer SMG`S . They stumble on stingers and the rest of the movie is in part about getting them back with a fantastic , daring mission in the middle east !Charlie Sheen is great in this for starters as is the rest of the cast . Navy seals have since gotten more famous and its a good thing I think , a special forces unit , good by real merit and today combat competency against the odds ,and not good by a farcical , easy Iranian embassy siege 30 years ago by the Brit SAS .God bless the NAVY SEALS !!

Worth a watch if only for comparison to the current problems in the middle east.
Bought to replace my original video. About American armed forces dealing with issues in the middle east and although this is about the Palestinians not todays problems it does make you think about the issue, whilst enjoying looking at Charlie Sheen and Michael Biehn.
