Edward Seago

Beautiful book
It is a beautiful book about a little known East Anglian artist who painted wonderfully and taught Princes Philip and Charles about painting.

Great for wannabe artists.
If you are someone like me, who values insight into how the best artists work this book is very helpful. Not a 'how to' book of course but the reproductions are so good you can (if you have some experience) see how Seago worked. Fascinating life story as well.

Not a huge book for the cost
Bought as Christmas present for husband. Not sure of contents as book wrapped and sealed.

A fine account of Seago’s life but not his work
Seago painted some 300 oils and thousands of watercolours. However, this book focuses overwhelming on his oil paintings, with very few of his watercolours reproduced. The text gives a fine account of his life, but this is a poor record of his work.

lovely colours to the prints
I wanted this book to see how Seago incorporated the skies into his landscapes. The prints are good quality with an interesting text.

Edward Seago - the forgotten artist.
A beautiful book of a very high production standard, about an almost forgotten and greatly underrated artist. The fact that he was perhaps of a genre that was not fashionable has denied him the recognition his undoubted talent deserves. His landscapes particularly put him among the finest British painters.

Very few watercolors (~10%)
Top-quality book but I expected to see more watercolors.
