I’m very happy with this purchase. I love this album for decades but this collection of work is so much more! The original LP album and cd, plus 3 additional cd’s of Demo versions, b-sides and alternative versions the DVD and the booklet.Very well packaged and the remastered album sounds great! No brainer for the price…

Very nice limited release. The gate-fold booklets and CDs were well done. The DVD documentary was very interesting and insightful. Finally, the vinyl LP had no playback issues; the sound was vibrant and clear throughout. I would highly recommended for Alphaville fans.

Finally a worthy edition of this amazing and cult album. It was about time.These songs are now 35 years old and they are still as fresh today as they were in the 80's.All the major German pop artists of the 80's has re-issued their material in the past (sandra, modern talking etc.), it's about time for Alphaville to do the same and boy, how well it was done and it was really worth the wait.Finally one of the best 80's pop albums is remastered in all of his glory, it's incredible the new sound on this one : listening to it now in 2019 it's like I've never heard it before (even though I still bought the original LP back in 1985). All the details and little sounds you can hear now that you couldn't hear on the original CD it's amazing. I've listened to the original CD and these brand new CD's back to back and it's just incredible the new details I now hear, it's like I only got studio quality right now with these new ones.Songs like "A Victory Of Love" or "Big In Japan" are crispier than ever, they finally got the treatment they truly deserved. Even the beginning or the ending of those songs are there to the fullest, to the simpliest breath, it's remarquable they could extract that level of sound quality from 35 years old tapes !This is the most complete edition ever. Here you have the 180 grams vinyl with remastered sound (which I could have done without personnally since I haven't bought a vinyl record in 28 years but still, it's there), you have on CD 1 the original album with a brand new breathtaking sound quality, on CD 2 you have all the original B-sides and single versions and boy there are a lot of them.For the very first time on CD you have the single remixes of "Sounds Like A Melody" and "The Jet Set" since on their first compilation "First Harvest" you have 1992 brand new remixes at the time in their place (with great new versions but still) finally here we have the original 7 inch mixes from the 80's without forgetting the french only B-side of the "Forever Young" single the quick mix (version rapide in french) which is great (basically a shortened version of the 12 inch mix which was less ballad and more upbeat) and what about great B-sides that truly deserved to be in the original album like "Seeds" ("Big In Japan's" b-side) or the great Depeche Modesque "The Elevator" ("Sounds Like A Melody"'s original 7 inch B-side in both 7 inch and 12 inch versions !) they are all here and in great CD sound quality. Remastering is top notch.CD 3 sound has some sound glitches and the quality wavers a bit since it's mostly made of "demo" versions whether they are original or slightly remixed so it's really understandable (they are 35 year old demos after all) but it's still great even though I'm not a big fan of demos originally (I thought A-ha's were not of great value on their remastered CD's I bought as well) but here it's very different : the demos are great and sometimes quite different from the definitive tracks.For instance "Forever Young" was not a ballad but an upbeatsong back then and "The Jet Set" was much less over the top that the original and sometimes, like in this case, a little bit of subtlety is welcome and quite good as well.The rigid box-set in vinyl format is quite sturdy and of great quality as is the 24 page booklet. It's great. It not only has all the song lyrics (including the B-side's and extra-tracks) but it has comments from the producer, the singer and the composer. Berhard Lloyd even states what synthesizer and drum machines were used on certain tracks without forgetting great never before seen pictures of the band (from 1984 with Frank Mertens as well as from 1985 with Ricky Echolette).On the DVD we finally have the official music videos from all the singles "Big In Japan", "Sounds Like A Melody" "Forever Young" and "The Jet Set" without relying on questionnable image quality videos from Youtube anymore as well as a 60-minute in-depth interview with the singer Marian Gold, the composer Bernard Lloyd as well as the producer and german engineers of the original album and everything is explained from all kind of great anectdotes about the recording to the strange but unforgettable sleeve of the album.What a treat this package is, really. Finally a box-set made right. Thank you Rhino and thank you Alphaville.My only regret is that I didn't really care about a new 180 grams vinyl. I stopped buying them in 1991 but I so wanted the DVD that I had to buy it anyway. But still, this package is so well done and great that if Alphaville wants to release their 4 or 5 first albums in this way, each time I will be on board for sure.If you have missed this amazing album in the 80's or if you already have it but want to listen to it the way you've never heard it before (with cristal clear sound quality for the very first time) this is your chance. Even though this Super Deluxe Edition is a little bit expensive (I must admit), it's really worth every cent, you can trust me on that.

This is aimed directly at 'stuart'.Seems like every record you purchase is defective. And the same problem.It's called Static. It's on most every record.Cleaning alone will not solve this problem.Get yourself a carbon fiber anti-static brush.Works like a charm. There may be some residual static, but that will go away with repeated uses of the brush.I've been purchasing records for almost 50 years.I have a good hifi setup.Do yourself another favor and throw away yourCrosley and buy a decent system.This Alphaville set deserves a second chance.Spin it and all of your other 'defective' records once you cleanthem with an anti-static brush. Can be purchasedon Amazon for under $20.

Such a great album. The CD sound quality is much improved from the original. Haven't gotten around to the vinyl yet.Worth every penny. EDIT: After listening to the vinyl I can safely say this whole package is worth every penny. The vinyl was pop-less and my ears detected no crackling. As expected, the vinyl sounded warmer. but that is just one 50 year old mans opinion.MJP

excellent album. love the extra cds and the dvd documentary is great. Learned more about alphaville! no problems with my vinyl. hopefully more alphaville super deluxe versions will be released

Versión completísima de este mítico disco. Incluye vinilo, 3 CD y DVD. La pena es que el DVD no contiene subtítulos. Lo compré aprovechando una oferta a un precio insuperable. Imposible resistirme a su compra.

Sempre difficile recensire un cd , ma decido di recensire la qualità del cofanetto ;Gli Alphaville e questo lp sono importanti per me e avere questo cofanetto così completo e inappuntabile mi rende soddisfatto lo consiglio se vi piace Forever Young icona a mio modo di vedere della musica elettronica e delle influenze anni 80 dell’epoca.

Das Album der Alphaville Ursprungsbesetzung Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd und Frank Mertens in einer liebevoll gestalteten Buch-Aufmachung als Aufbewahrungsort für eine sauber gepresste, schwere Vinyl-Schallplatte, mit 3 CD's und einer DVD überzeugt durch das beeindruckende Remastering und die interessanten Interviews auf der DVD zur Entstehung des Albums.Das Remastering:Ich nehme das Fazit hinsichtlich der Qualität des Remasterings vorweg:Atemberaubend! Ganz klar: Ein Headphone-Album.Die Titel klingen von der ursprünglichen LP oder CD vergleichsweise flach, weniger lebendig und undifferenzierter, abgespielt in einem verengten Raum. Nun lassen sich die einzelnen Instrumente, sowie der Gesang getrennt orten, die Musik wirkt näher und zugleich räumlicher. Phantastisch!Bernhard Lloyd versprach einen wärmeren Klang. Das ist eine glatte Untertreibung. Das Album ist im Vergleich zur alten Veröffentlichung zu einem Klangerlebnis aufgestiegen und das lohnt m.E. den Kauf auch zum dritten Mal, nach LP und CD in den 80‘ern.Das Album Forever Young auf CD1:Dem Klassiker unter den SynthPop-Alben ist bereits ein Ehrenplatz innerhalb der New Wave / Romantic Area durch unzählige Rezensenionen zugewiesen, so dass es hier keiner weiteren diesbezüglichen Rezension bedarf.+ Das Remastering von den originalen Masterband-Quellen war seine Mühen wert.+ Unglaublich, wie nah und kristallklar Marian Golds Stimme aus den Lautsprechern erklingt.- Kein Minuspunkt zu finden, außer, man kann mit der Musik nichts anfangen.Die Original 7'', B-Sides and 12'' Versions auf CD2:Auch hier garantiert die investierte Arbeit in das Remastering einen Genuss.Am Stück wird man sich eher selten mit der CD beschäftigen, da sich die Titel in den unterschiedlichen Längen und Abmischungen inhaltlich wiederholen, aber das ist bei einer derartigen Zusammenstellung nicht anders zu erwarten.Mir gefällt, dass m.E. eine vollständige Ansammlung der zugehörigen Abmischungen der 7'' und 12'' vorzufinden ist. Toll!+ Remastering+ Offensichtlich eine vollständige Ansammlung an Abmischungen- Kein direkter Minuspunkt zu finden, außer, man kann mit der Musik nichts anfangen.Die Original Demo Versions auf CD3:Sehr schön lässt sich anhand der analog zum Originalalbum ''Forever Young'' gewählten Anreihung der Titel nachvollziehen, welche Entwicklung die Titel nahmen. Der ursprüngliche Charakter der Titel blieb auch nach der Albumproduktion erhalten.Wer die auf 5.000 Einheiten limitierte Ausgabe der Alphaville Dreamscapes als sein Eigen bezeichnen darf, wird bereits wissen, dass diese Aussage speziell nicht für den Leittitel des Albums "Forever Young" gilt. Dieser ist in der Ursprungsversion ein mit Kraftwerk Trans Europa Express - Anleihen, dancelastiger Synthpop-Titel und stellt so die gute Arbeit des Produktionsteams noch einmal eindrucksvoll dar. Aus Forever Young ist dank der Produktion ein zeitloser Klassiker geworden!Die Demo-Versionen sind auch nach dem Remastering mit einer in den Hintergrund gedrängten Stimme von Marian zu genießen - es sind nun einmal Demoversionen.Hervorheben kann man hier noch die drei in deutsch gesungenen Titel, von denen die deutsche Version von Seeds beweist, wie nah die Demo-Versionen schon am finalen Endprodukt waren und wie behutsam, die Stärken der Titel unterstreichend, die damalige Produktion der Titel vorgenommen wurde.+- Audiophile Genüsse sind hier von den Demo-Versionen nicht zu erwarten, aber auf jeden Fall hörenswert.Die DVD "Documentary":Die Interviews, aufgemacht als Documentary, mit parallel zum Interview laufenden oder speziell eingebrachten Titel-Arrangements der Entstehungsphase machen die DVD für Fans kurzweilig, sehr interessant and damit nicht nur einmalig sehenswert.Neben den „Alphaville“ Gründervätern Marian Gold und Bernhard Lloyd, aber ohne Frank Mertens, kommen Wolfgang Loos und Colin Pearson als Producer hier mit tiefen Produktionseinblicken zu Worten, welche die Entstehungsphase besser einordnen lassen. Selbst der Designer des Covers erklärt hier die damals noch ohne Digitaltechnik aufwändige Entstehung des außergewöhnlichen Covers.Unklar bleibt, warum Frank Mertens als mehrfach genannter, kreativer Ideengeber nicht einmal bis zur Single Veröffentlichung von „The Jet Set“ ein Bestandteil der Formation blieb. Eine Erklärung dazu bietet die Documentary dem geneigten Zuschauer nicht.Die Videos zu den Albumtiteln finden sich in guter 4:3 Qualität auf der DVD.+ Gut gemachte DVD ohne nervende Werbung.+- Die in englischer Sprache gehaltenen Interviews sind ohne eine Auswahlmöglichkeit von anderssprachigen Untertiteln auf die DVD gebannt, die Interviewten sind aber sehr gut zu verstehen.Die schwere Vinyl-Schallplatte:Findet sich eingeschoben in der Box im schwarzen, gefütterten Innersleeve. Dazu gehört eine sehr gut gemachte Fotodokumentation in Vinylgröße und die Darstellung der Texte, welche wegen der Überlagerungstechnik auf den Fotos teils erschwert lesbar sind.+ Sauber gepresste, hügelfreie Vinylschallplatte.+ Klanglich dem Original von 1984 weit überlegen.+ Tolle, sehenswerte, qualitativ hochwertige Fotodokumentation.- Texte nicht einfach lesbar.Fazit:Meine Empfehlung für Fans des Synthpop Klassikers.P.S.Dem Fan lege ich auch den zugehörigen Rhino Podcast #23 ans Herz, in welchem das Boxset vorgestellt wird, sowie Marian Gold und Bernhard Lloyd ausführlich zur Entstehung von „Forever Young“ zu Wort kommen.Update 22.03.2019: Das 35 Jahre alte Album belegt Platz 8 der Media Control Album Charts.

Génial, génial, génial génial !Le coffret super deluxe (très complet) démontre à quel point Alphaville était à la pointe de la technologie et au sommet de son art dès 1984. Le Dvd est passionnant et on aurait (encore) souhaité en apprendre d'avantage.INDISPENSABLE si vous aimez la musique synthétique des années 80.Très beau coffret, dommage qu'on doive achete le vinyle. Mais foncez quand même !
