Fantastic Product!
This is an outstanding training collar. It is outperforming collars I have used in the past that cost me much more.My dog is an Australian Shepherd and is a service dog that detects seizures, helps me with my mobility, and helps me up if I fall. She is well trained and I mostly use the collar when I let her run around our two acre property. I have used it to correct her when I'm out in the community in unfamiliar surroundings or when there are lots of distractions. The collar and remote feel sturdy and I expect them to last a long time. They are both easy to operate and I haven't had any difficulty pairing them. The ability to charge them both at the same time is a great feature, and they hold a charge a very long time.As for the three different corrections, they all work well. The beep is very loud and the vibrations are strong at all speeds. The static correction is VERY strong and I recommend starting much lower than you would think.I set my initial static level by using the collar on my arm. My dog is pretty sensitive and my current setting is 17. I've only used the static correction twice, but, because my dog is a service dog, she is very smart and in-tune with me. As far as the range, I tested it out to 300 yards.I am very pleased with all of the features. One thing that seems unimportant, but means a lot to me is the black color. I have had people make comments about their personal opinions about training collars when I've used orange collars.I only have two small things I'd change. I'd feel better if the belt clip was tighter or if there was a way to attach a lanyard. I'd also get rid of the light feature. All it does is turn the tiny LED on the collar on. It is just a setting I always pass, and is just another step to go past before you get back to the beep correction if you've been on a different setting. This is a fantastic product at a great price.

Fantastic product!
This collar has totally changed my hikes with my dog. I have a 10 year old lab mix, we do lots of hiking and overnight backpacking. We got him as an adult rescue, and he's always been naughty and ran off the trail when we've tried to hike off-leash with him. I figured we would try this, and it's been outstanding. We've used it on a 3-day backpacking trip in the White Mountains, and the battery made it all the way through the trip, and the waterproofing worked fine also. We now also use it in friend's backyards that aren't fenced in, anytime he wants to dig or go somewhere he shouldn't be. Usually the audio tone is enough to get his attention and deter him, and when that doesn't work, the vibrate function is enough of a correction for him. I only used the shock feature a few times when hiking, when he really gets tunnel vision on something. The build quality feels good, range has been very good, I think the max range we've used it has been 100-150 yards, but that's in the woods with lots of trees and varied terrain. In NH he was crossing lots of streams, and the unit got wet often, but we had no problems with it functioning. The only negative on this unit is the delay when it goes into sleep mode, but I just got in the habit of double-tapping the Y button and the correction is usually pretty fast. There's a nice clip on the remote, but it won't hold up to much abuse. The collar is very long and adjustable, but I would prefer that they had left a small gap so you could feed your own collar through it instead of using theirs. The LED light is a nice bright blue, but due to the way the collar sits on his neck, it's not very useful, usually the light is blocked by his head/neck. On a lighter colored dog, it might work better, but it's a nice option if you just want to see where the dog is at night. The charger is well thought out, it's a USB connection on one end, so you can use any cell-phone/ipad type charger, and you can charge it on the go in the car also. It's nice that the charging cord has two ports, so you can charge the remote and collar at the same time. It's a great product, I'm really impressed with the battery life, durability, and general function. It's made hiking a lot nicer with my dog, and this would make any type of training so much easier by being able to give a correction immediately and consistently. I'd absolutely buy again.

3 year old very intelligent but exuberant Shepherd-lab mix
My dog is a 90 pound, 3 year old very intelligent but exuberant Shepherd-lab mix. I walk him on a leash daily. If he wants to check out a tree in the park you go there too whether you want to or not because he is very strong! I use the petrainer to encourage him to stay with me and not to pull on the leash so hard. I do not use the spark...only the vibrator on a low setting around about 15 out of 100. The idea is to remind him who is in charge without scaring or harming him. It acts as a gentle "reminder" when he senses the vibration on the collar. The device works well as advertised. The cost was reasonable as well. It takes some time to learn to use it effectively. One thing I learned is to check that it is functioning before putting the collar around his neck...otherwise you may find that it is not working when you assume that it is, but you are getting no response from the dog. I keep the transmitter in my pocket because it is cold outside in the winter. Therefore a desirable improvement would be to make the center "Y" button, which activates the signal, with a tactile feature, such as a raised surface, so that you can be sure that you are activating the correct button (there are 3 buttons to choose from) without having to actually see them first.

Overall, we kept it.
Works great, set up and function were all as advertised. We have a pitbull, which are known to have an incredible pain tolerance. I've used the shocker a couple of times on him at 50%, and won't ever have to use shock again; the vibration is associated with it so all we use is vibe.FUR LENGTH IS EVERYTHINGThe reason this works on tough short hair dogs better than more fragile ones is usually because of the fur length. It also only works if you've taken the rubber tips off of the shock prongs, which based on a few other reviews is a given. It also has to be tight enough for prong to skin contact. The only cons are:-NOT BARK ACTIVATED-Sleep mode; you have to go to the dog and press the button to wake it up. This is a deal breaker for most, and really inconvenient.-generic USB-C charging cords would be a huge step up on user function.

then the second one seemed to be good..
Less than 8 months ago I purchased a static collar for about $140 from a large pet chain. We returned the first one as soon as it was purchased because it did not work, then the second one seemed to be good... for 4 months. In the 4 months we lost the packaging and receipt, upon requesting what I could do, the return effort as so long it was not worth it, even with a rewards card to track the purchase - very disappointed in the store! In December 2015 we purchased this E-collar and we love it! Jax responses immediately to both the beep and the vibration - we almost don't need the shock. The collar gives us the control that we need to keep our dog away from traffic and dangerous circumstances. It gives him even more freedom, because we can let him run free as long as we know we can stop him when needed.Quality product other than the cheep plastic collar. We took the webbing clip collar off the chain store collar and used that. Any collar can be strung through the unit, but it would have been nice to have a nicer one included.

... have used it a handful of times and wouldn't recommend it for 'working'/'hunting' dogs
We've had this collar for over three months now and have used it a handful of times and wouldn't recommend it for 'working'/'hunting' dogs. We were looking for an affordable alternative then the one we currently have (Sportdog Hunting Collar) for our other dog. We own two Hungarian Vizsla's.Speaking to the actual unit of the collar, it appears well built but when you actually have it in your hands it doesn't feel sturdy then the one we are used too; it's VERY light and it rattles when you shake it (it sounds like there is a loose piece of plastic or component inside the unit itself; which seems to be a common thing here based on the reviews we've read). The prongs come in three different sizes, that are built cheap; the tip of the prongs are smooth but the rest of it isn't rounded out so it irritated the skin of our dog (we wouldn't recommend this if you have a fine/short haired dog) and it builds up surface rust very quickly; we've only used this collar for our new girl to break her out of bad habits like counter surfing, etc and when we take them out to the fields. The strap of the collar is made out of plastic and is very flimsy. When we took it out of the box, it was tightly coiled that it didn't break it's 'coil' even after a month of having it out, the strap never straightened out (even laying between two heavy cement blocks and/or coiling it the other way) so we ended up just swapping it with the extra collar from the other brand we use for our first dog.The remote is huge, which is nice and I don't have any complaints to this component. It's easy to use.Functionality. We like how the collar has a long life and a quick charge. Unlike the other brand we have which takes a full 12 hours to charge, this one is ready to go after an hour of being plugged in... the life of the unit lasts us for three days, and that's after taking them to the fields and using it around the home for house breaking .Downside is the performance. This is something we didn't expect much out off for the price we paid and purchased this with sub-par expectations; what made me decide to buy this was the warranty to be honest, lol. I tested the strength of the shock myself and it was very tolerable until I got beyond the 50 point and that's where it started to get uncomfortable. <50 below felt like a very bad pinch to the nipples >50 above was more of that shock factor... at the 70-80 mark that's when I started twitching/wincing from the shock. The multiple levels of vibrating is awesome and she's very respondent to that then the actual shock, because of the loose component inside the unit we sometimes can hear the actual unit vibrate when we trigger it. The beep is a beep, it works. There is a flash light function, but ours didn't come with it so I couldn't tell you anything on that. There is a noticeable delay though when you press on the remote and when the collar receives it. The auto-off function is a nice feature too and does add life to the remote and collar... but, it's not so good when you try to correct a bad behavior and forget you need to press the button twice to turn the remote back on, haha.Overall, for the price it is a good introduction to e-collars and for housebreaking. Personally, we wouldn't recommend it for working/active outdoors dogs.

Great collar, even better price.
We had bought one like this years ago for a rottie we were having issues training. I believe we had paid over 300$. We subsequently sold it for less than half after we didn't have that dog anymore. Fast forward a few years and we again rescue a dog, this time a chocolate lab. A lot of bad habits had been left festering in this dog so we needed another collar. At roughly 75$, I wasn't expecting much but this is as good as the 300$ one we had a few years ago. We only need the vibration effect to correct, have only used the electrical impulse a few times but dog react more to vibration. We take him swimming all the time and the unit hasn't failed yet so as far as water proof goes, it lives up to the claim. Would definitely recommend this unit. And at the price, if it end up only lasting a year (we've had it for a few months now), well I would just by same unit again.
