Well, the first one I got was ok, then I bought another so I wouldn't have to keep switching dies in-between sizes. The next one I received along with a new set of SDT dies is difficult to get proper thread depth. Just a small adjustment on the die head translates to a big difference in thread depth. I have wasted a good amount of pipe trying to get it dialed in. Now I check it with a pipe nipple before I start to make sure its good. These are new dies in a new die head and I am a 10 year licensed master plumber and have threaded miles of pipe in my day with a variety of machines....so its not me. I noticed when comparing the two die heads I have side by side, which are this same SDT die head, that one was not fully milled out in the area where thread depth is set and when using the 3/4 and smaller die teeth it wouldn't open all the way so you could actually thread 3/4. So I made this the 1-2 inch die head as I never do 2 inch so the lack of opening clearance would never really be an issue, but its still a manufacturing defect and I was just to busy to bother with returning it. If you had never used a threading machine before you would wonder what you were doing wrong, but I know better. STD customer service is OK, but not stellar, if you call someone will answer most of the time and then you have to prove your issue with pictures or send the part back which is a hassle no matter what.My final determination on this and pretty much all STD tools I have purchased is, you get what you pay for and their quality seems to be hit and miss and its defiantly not Rigid quality, they look exactly alike, but the devil is in the little details and quality control. STD tools do the job with some extra fussing on the part of an experienced user, but its cheapo china lack of quality control that is the downfall of this product. To be fair its less than half the price of the Rigid brand and made with seemingly the same grade of cast/milled steel. Someone at the end of the assembly line in China was just a little to quick to paint it red before they checked that it was fully milled out, I just don't see that happening at the Rigid plant.

The media could not be loaded. So many things wrong with this, the oiler hole was in the wrong spot, it wouldn't open wide enough to release 1/2" ridgid conduit, the auto open doesn't seem to function at all, definitely not something I'd buy again but after all the grinding and drilling it does make threads and that all I need it to do. Poor quality. You get what you pay for.

did not fit rigid... I will only buy Rigid branded from now on
