Talking Pocket Calculator

I got this for my son-in-law. He loves it. He works at a job where he needs a calculator & carries this calculator everywhere he goes and he especially loves the 'talking' part. He says that if he 'hears' the numbers, he doesn't make any mistakes punching in the numbers.

II bought this a year or two ago and it has worked perfectly. However, recently the alarm started going off at the same time every night. I couldn't make it turn off, so I put it in its box to mute it, but I could still hear it. Then it seemed to wear down and gave a scary little noise and not just at the same time, but several times a night. I finally decided I would pitch it and get a new one. This one was made by Utmost, although I got it from the Braille Superstore.

Its not a bad little calculator. I bought one for my wife who has very little useful vision. She likes it except for the fact that none of the clock or alarm functions talk. It just beeps when any of those buttons are pressed. The voice is clear, It is loud enough for most cases and can be turned off if need be.

I HAVE USED A TALKING CALCULATOR FOR YEARS AND IT IS AN EXTREMLY USEFUL TOOL. AN AMUSING THINGHAPPENED TO ME WHILE TALKING TO AN AGENT FROM THE INTERNAL REVENUE ABOUT THE TOTAL OF MY PAYMENTSI WAS USING MY TALKING CALCULATOR WHILE HE WAS FIGURING THE TOTAL HIMSELF. HIS FIGURE WAS DIFFERENT THANMINE, SO I REDID IT. HE ASKED ME WHO WAS TALKING? I TOLD HIM MY CALCULATOR. HE SAID THAT WAS GREAT ANDMY TOTAL WAS CORRECT! THE FACT THAT YOU HEAR WHAT YOU ENTER IS THE PRIME REASON IT IS SO GOODAS I OFTEN TRANSPOSE NUMBERS AND NOW HEAR THAT MISTAKE. AS YOU CAN SEE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

The image presented shows light-grey keys. They are, in fact, dark grey. The product is almost impossible to use because the buttons are very difficult to read. The buttons are dark grey and the symbols are tiny thin black. That is a cruel joke. Using a flashlight or any light produces glare from the glossy white background. Maybe if you have the eyes of and eighteen year old you could get some use out of this. I am 80 and just can't see the symbol on the keys.

This is an absolute duplicate for one I have had for over 20 years! It finally gave up the ghost and I was pleased to see it still on the market. You can't beat something that solves a problem for you and lasts that long!

This is my second talking calculator. My first one just like this finally wore out after about ten years. Having the voice repeating the numbers helps keep me on track as I am figuring out bank balance monthly. Well worth the investment!
