These are nice shades for your vents even if you do not have Maxxair vents
I do not have any Maxxair fans but these are great for creating a finished look for any vent fan. I installed these in the bathroom and bedroom of our 5th wheel. They still allow light in when shut and really make the vent look nicer when closed. The shade roller seems like it could break easily so I am very careful when opening/closing.

Overpriced
Worked OK, until the clip that holds the sliding shade shut broke. Looks like a 50 cent piece, would love for Maxxair to replace this but I'm having trouble contacting them.Cover is not heavy duty plastic, more for looks than function.

With fingers, gently pry apart adapter from MaxxShade shroud.
I was skeptical that the installation was going to be as easy as the package described. It was. Gently pry clips on all 4 sides apart the adapter from outer shroud. Remove four screws from current fan garnish ring and remove it. I taped (masking tape) the adapter to the garnish ring so I could put the assembly up without help. I reused current garnish ring screws. Tighten screws. Snap the shroud back onto adapter. Gently tap all four sides until shroud is flush with ceiling. I did the install, including reading the directions twice, assembling tape and screw gun in about 15 minutes! It's great! Now when I stop at a highway rest area overnight, I can block out the parking area overhead lights from my bedroom!.

Stopped working in less than a year
Unfortunately the shade relies on a friction tab to keep the shade closed. It is not a positive lock. Within a year the shade started snapping (it is spring loaded) from the closed to open position at random. Apparently the friction tab wears over time and no longer wins the battle over the stronger spring that wants to open the shade. I replaced the friction tab after a year, thanks customer service, but within a few months is was back to not working. I was actually able to talk to some of their reps at an RV outing, and they seemed aware of the problem, and that it was an oft reported issue, but were unable to offer any โfixesโ. It really is a poor latching solution, and I was hoping they had come up with an improvement to this defect, but alas, the current version still uses the same plastic friction tab that will likely fail once it is used enough times. It really is too bad, as otherwise it is a nice solution.

No LED light. Also blocks easy access to controls of Maxxair.
I thought this one had the LED lighting, but it doesn't. Haven't seen a benefit from in in our last 6 day camping trip, but we were in a National Forest without any lights.

Total junk
Total garbage. The retractable screen didn't even work one time. Installation is easy but also manual knob is in the way and maxxfan claims it works with both manual and electric! I have 7500 electric maxxfan but they all have manual knob as well. Either way the retractable screen is so bad it doesn't work at all just gets bunches up internally. Do not buy!
