USB to RS-232 DB9 Serial Adapter Blue (CH340 Chipset)

Not a Prolific chipset
While I'm sure it works fine as a generic USB-to-serial adapter, I haven't been able to test it as of yet, since it does NOT in fact use the Prolific PL2303 chipset noted in the product description (and item title.) Instead, it enumerates as USB VID 1a86, PID 7523, which is a CH340. Rather unhelpful on an embedded device that only has Prolific and FTDI drivers. FWIW, Windows 7 does not have a built-in driver either. It comes with a mini CD, but I didn't have an optical drive on me at the moment, so I gave up and used something else.If you're not picky about the chipset, fine, this will do. But, please don't advertise a PL2303 and send a CH340. Anyone who cares enough to pick a cable based on the chip will not be amused.

As one user stated this has the CH340 chipset and not the Prolific. I bought 2 of these and 2 cisco rollover cables. Both USB adapters fail to work on serial management ports (garbage characters). I was able to find an old machine with the true serial port and confirmed the rollover cables are fine. That means the problem is with these garbage adapters! Buy something else...
