we went to a radioshack to purchase this converter, the employee should have warned us in the first place. we hooked up a european mac mini to the device, which is well above the 40 watts indicated. again, should have done the reading ourselves, but i thought i would spare someone else a 45 USD mistake. the thing worked well for about a week with normal PC use, then shortcircuited and gave out a really bad and toxic smell, its a good thing i was sitting right next to it and took it right off the outlet.the general feel is very plasticky and cheap. it's not really something you have to hold in your hand all day, but it is much like seeing eggwhites in a milk carton...very disconcerting :) i would not want to hook my valuable electronics up to this thing again.also, you will find this item on ebay for about 8 USD plus shipping. just another lesson to do one's research before purchasing. happy shopping :)

... as long as you read the manual carefully! Remember this is just for devices requiring up to 40W, otherwise your device will be damaged. This works just fine for me :D
