Help Me Be Good Series Box Set Paperback

I bought these books over 20 years ago and read them to the children in my preschool. They are excellent!! I now read them to my grandchildren and they are just as effective. They have helped me teach children to think about their behavior and about making good choices.

I bought this boxed set because the titles seemed to be about problems my granddaughters were facing. I was somewhat disappointed in the formulaic approach in each volume. However, on occasions when the girls visited and were tired of playing or mentioned a problem they were grappling with, I would pull out the box and see if there was a booklet that offered suggestions for dealing with their issues. I sometimes find them together on the guest room bed, with the box of books spread out, side by side, reading and talking about handling difficulties. They also ask to borrow several at a time. One child is 7 and the other 8. The fact that they were interested, and find them helpful offsets my lack of enthusiasm for the style. They work for them.

we had most of these when our own were small. they discuss in great cartoon-like pictures and easy storyline each specific issue in each book. manners, handling or not being a bully, helping around the house, being kind to others, lying, stealing and just about anything you can think you'd want to discuss with your child. the stories are great in themselves, but are also a handy springboard to more detailed discussion or encouraging your child to share problems or questions. we are so glad to have found this full series to read with our grandson.

I'm an elementary school principal. Thought it might help to have a few of my repeat visitors practice their reading with me with these short but meaningful stories. There's a topic for just about any issue. I started by my picking the story with the topic related to why they were there to see me, but discovered if I let them pick their topic I learned a lot about the child just form the story the chose. Not a perfect system of discipline, but a refreshing system that has had some very positive effects in many different ways.

I love these books, and probably more importantly, my four year old likes these books. The illustrations are excellent. The lessons taught are easy for kids to grasp. I think Joy Berry did a great job with this set.The books come in a carrying case, and my handle is not durable enough to hold the case up. Oh, well. I can still store the books all together and find them easily.

I love that this set comes in its own box and has a CD with it. My kids always ask for it to be played in the car and the messages are actually heard compared to me preaching it all the time. I sit down with my kids and read a book and we discuss it. GREAT LESSONS TO BE HAD FOR THE KIDS! love it!

These books are great for my son, both because of content and the way they are written for his age. The cartoon drawings capture his attention, and he can relate to the messages that young children are dealing with. I love these books, and if I could afford to, I would buy a set for everyone I know with young kids. Valuable life lessons in an easy-to-read format.

Best books. Great value.
