Great Inexpensive Film for 120 Film Camera Enthusiasts
120 Film for 120 film cameras comes in a variety of styles and options. I’d like to share my experiences with the Lomography color negative film which is 120 size and optimized for ISO 100 usage. I used a Holga for my photos.First, what is Lomography? Lomography is in essence a corporation in Europe which formed from art enthusiasts who wanted to explore film photography. Their group makes both cameras and film to help support artists around the world. So Lomography film is an inexpensive option to the other film makers out there like Kodak. The 120 is the film size. IT IS NOT 120mm!! It is 60mm. It’s just called 120 :). This is the size that the Holga medium-format 120 film camera takes.Next up, the ISO 100. ISO is a measure of how quickly or slowly the film absorbs light. ISO 100 is generally used for sunny days and is less sensitive to light. That gives it a very crisp image and also allows you to maintain some dark areas in your image. Otherwise if you opened the shutter on a sunny day, the entire film would turn white in an instant. The color part is one most of us understand – it will show the colors in the scene. Compare this with black and white film which would not show the colors. And for the negative part, there are generally two types of film. One is negative film, from which you make prints. The other is slide film, from which you make slides. The film itself is marked with the word LOMO (for Lomography), a heart symbol, and then CN100 to show it’s a color negative ISO 100 film. So if you find film with those markings, that is what it means. I'm including an image here.So to summarize, this Lomography Color Negative ISO 100 120 Film is made by an artisan group to provide inexpensive color print film to enthusiasts who have 120 film cameras and who want to shoot in fairly sunny conditions (ISO 100). How well does the film do that?I'm including an image I took at the River Bend Farm canal in Uxbridge, Massachusetts with my Lomo film. It was a sunny day in May. The image came out fairly bright and crisp.I'm including a double-image from that same day. That is, I didn’t wind the film fully and it ended up overlapping the two images. Still, you can see each image is bright and clear. It exposed well.I'm also including an image from a bench along the canal. You can see the Holga’s traditional vignetting around the edges. The film does well in the light. So in general I’m pleased with this film. Note that it comes in a blue box. That’s just how they package it. It is NOT some sort of a blue-tinted film, like they had a violet-tinted film. It’s normal color film. Normal traditional 120 film. It provides normal colors during processing.Ask with any questions!

Nice neutral colors, no weird Lomo stuff
Maybe just slightly grainy for ISO 100. But Ive seen this on Flickr and it always looks good. Seems to be out of stock lately.

Good.
Currently this is probably the cheapest 120 color negative film. I just shot my first toll with Hasselblad 500C and overall I pleased with results; low grain, wide latitude, good color palette. I did not print directly from this film. I scanned it first and then cleaned dust, adjusted contrast and colors in Photoshop. After all I was quite happy with results. This film has just one annoying issue: the last 12th frame will cut off. So you will get 11 frames instead of 12 with this film.

Fun stuff to mess with
I bought this for my wife when she started getting into shooting 120mm film, this film offers some unique effects that are kind of fun to play with. 120mm film is expensive to have developed, but it's worth it to get something new and unique compared to the standard digital stuff.

It is what it is. The quality of the film is far from great, but the color saturation and grain make for some fun photos. Wouldn't expect anything else from Lomography!Definitely recommend for fun shooting.

This Film is my favorite! a wonderful alternative to any 120 film (Portra etc) - Definitely has a more subtle blue tone & sometimes looks like expired film. For the price it's good quality.

Film tends to give fat rolls making it useless
When this works you get a reasonable film here. However very prone to getting Fat rolls (ie. The film and backing paper are very loose when end roll meaning your film is exposed and ruined.)Happens on range of cameras especially Holga 120N. Have had same issue with most Lomography film where it just doesn't happen when I load kodak, Fujifilm, Fomapan etc. Think it's something to do with the backing paper

Just buy it. It's great.
Having used Lomo 35mm film before, I thought for my 1st time using 120 it should also be Lomo. It never disappoints!

Great results from Lomography !
Having purchased a classic medium format camera, and after trying black and white film, I wanted some colour print film. Finding that the well known brands sold in five pack rather than individual rolls, I saw the smaller quantity pack Lomo brand on Amazon and thought I would try it out. I was very pleased with the results, giving excellent colour and overall quality. I would not hesitate to purchase film from Lomo again.

Better than a digital camera. Gives you a feel good experience
Nice colours. Over priced but it is film and if you want to live in the past it's going to burn a hole in your pocket. On the other hand it was a pleasurable experience and there was something magical about it.

Great results with my Rollei
I love this film which I use on my Rolleicord. The colour is both well defined and partially saturated, helping to give depth to the image. I've enlarged to a 30 by 30 format with excellent results. For anyone returning to film from digital I'd say this is something you really must try.
