Solis Tek 600W Digital Ballast

Great ballast but my first 2 only lasted 3 years

I did a lot of research when my old 400w magnetic ballast went out. I take a very comprehensive and scientific approach to equipment selection and came up with this ballast. It hasn't been running for too long, only about 1 month, but so far here's what I can say.Yeah people like Quantum ballasts, but considering what kind of power a digital ballast is processing, I just can't believe that a fan intake would ever be considered. The non-vented enclosure of this ballast feels incredibly solid. This thing can get hot, but it's never been so hot (even on the Solis-Boost setting) where I'm concerned about it.It made some sound when we first fired it up, like a fluctuating high frequency, but that went away within minutes and I haven't heard it since. It's not even close to being audible considering the other equipment involved in the setup.Seems like a small thing, but the LED power indicator is a big help when you want to know exactly when it's on (so quiet after all!) because our tent is light-proof you can't tell by looking.I'm running this into a 4-year-old Sun Systems Yield Master II 4" with a 600w Hortilux EYE Super HPS. It's a gorgeously bright combination. The old 400w system had been gone for days, so my frame of reference for light intensity was a little degraded, but when we turned this on there was just NO DOUBT that it was incredibly brighter. (Of course a 600w digital is going to be brighter than a 400w magnetic, but the degree to which you can notice the difference is quite impressive).If my operation expands, I know the first ballast I'm going to buy...especially because of Solis-Tek's awesome sequential ignition feature. Probably the coolest thing about these is how they are designed to protect all electronics to which they are connected: the surge protector, wall socket or the bulb on the other end. We had a day where the power threshold kept just going over and would kill our house circuit breaker...this thing probably got power to it cut off and back on 4 times in 10 mins. It doesn't reignite the bulb until safe to do so, and since the outages has been running like a dream.

Do not purchase this ballast I won't recommend another brand but what I will say is solistek and hydro galaxy are crooks.they(solistek/hydrogalaxy) know this 600watt ballast is defective but will charge you shipping fees to replace it with more defective 600watt units.if you want loud buzzing massive RF interference fire hazards around then buy these.i feel bad for other people who buy these then are left with $120-170 paper weights. Solis tek rep told me to just return it to a local hydro store and "make it there problem" good business ethics right?

This is The nicest, highest quality ballast I have ever used. It is hundreds of times nicer than the ipower that I came from. It outputs the highest PAR reading of any other digital ballast on the market. It's a very large ballast for a 600w,in a good way. About twice as big as my ipower. This thing barely even gets warm after 12 hours of use, made in Japan. You can tell the quality of this product by holding it, nice and heavy. No fans, so no dust will get in. I will never use a different brand than Solis tek ever again. So happy with this purchase. Just buy it if you're on the fence, I promise you will be very happy!

Its ok, but I don't trust solis tek anymore, had a 1000 matrix catch on fire right in front of me and they deleted all comments I made on their site.

I bought this ballast a few years ago and just put it into service. Sorry to say the ballast lasted only a couple of weeks started smoking,,,yes smoking. Seriously think before you buy something that can smoke. And luckily there was a hydro supply store only 45 miles away to fill in the blank. Obviously the ballast even unused is too old for me to complain about. My advise is not to use this ballast, I haven't tried any resent Solis ballast's.

Like the product. However, I would have expected that they put the item into a shipping box rather than ship it in its original (product advertising) box only!

Rock solid Ballast. I dont use the solist boost. But very quiet and no problems. Very Happy with it.UPDATE:This ballast has been running nonstop up till about 3 months ago when I shut it down. Plugged it in today and it fired right up, no hesitation. So happy with it im thinking of buying 3 more.
