Ultrastart Tr-2 Universal Remote Starter Key Transponder Bypass Module Kit

I used this unit to provide the transponder bypass function for the Ultra 72 series remote starter on a 2002 Taurus. The half page "instructions" that were provided left a lot to be desired. The picture in the instructions was actually misleading. If you are a professional installer I am sure you would know what to do. I eventually determined that the base of the key (the black portion, not the metal portion) needed to be placed between the folds of the ribbon cable located inside the box. Also the included wire "loop" was maybe not obvious to at least one reviewer. The loop is actually a very long portion of wire that wraps at the end. Sliding the rubber casing located on this wire up towards its end provides a loop of a size one would expect. I was able to position and secure this loop around the outside of the pickup coil on the key cylinder (one loop was sufficient for me). I used electrical tape with a zip tie over the tape to ensure it stays in place. I will provide a separate review on the actual remote starter module. That was also an adventure but all is working now. An installation tip is to visit websites such as bulldog.com that contains info on how to install their system. Also the12volt.com site was helpful.

The TR2 instructions do not match what is in the kit. There is a loop shown and there is no loop in the kit. Instructions also describe the key being placed in the kit, but no key is shown, and it is guesswork to determine how to place the key in and/or around/along side of the ribbon cable. Worse, it is impossible to contact ultra start, and their dealer file is non-existant. There are no radio schaak stores that handle the ultra start products, and employees say they haven't seen these starter modules for over 5 years. I finally got mine working with many hours of wasted time and placing a transponder key on the lock in the vehicle with straps, tape etc.

Plugs directly into the hookups from Ultrastart U1272 kits. Only needs +12 volts constant and then ground toggled from remote start output. Beware though.... I had to wind the interface loop 4 times around my wifes 01 Taurus before it would transmit enough signal to work with remote start. :)
