Give it a bit of time, it’s much better than you might initially think!
Like a lot of other reviews, I too was not entirely impressed with this instrument when I first received it. My other whistles are all typically metal of some sort, so I guess that’s just me comparing this one to the more durable feel of nickel, brass, or aluminum pipes. I also first discovered the Susato was not only a light plastic, but seemingly fickle in breath control, and VERY easy to over-blow the low register. I was a bit disappointed in the product, though VERY pleased with the vendor, as it was sent quickly and with warm regards.Thank you to Hall Crystal Flutes, excellent job! Now, with that said about the whistle itself, I went on to get used to it for a couple days, and just as another low whistle came in of even LIGHTER plastic (from a top UK brand) I find that it’s a bit of a norm for some of these plastic whistles to be rather “delicate” feeling. Then, comparing it to another newly purchased Low-G (metal) which I intended as a replacement, I was even more pleasantly surprised to realize how wonderful and warm sounding this Kildare actually is! As to be expected with plastic, the tone is very rich and the playability very reliable, ONCE you spend enough time with it. As for durability...well, it is after all, a musical instrument and should be treated respectfully as such!As for finger spacing, Low G is a bit of a “tweener” for me, from my usual Low D’s and the lowest of my highs, a Bb. So, the piper’s grip may or may not be necessary for you, but I have somewhat larger hands (No classical trained chops here, lol) and still find the piper’s grip is just better, and finger tip pads don’t work for me on this particular G, though DO on my metal one (go figure).Bottom line, I was initially disappointed but quickly got over it and find this to be one of my best performing/sounding instruments!

A lower whistle that's affordable and easy to play
This is a fine whistle. It's not the best Low G you can get, but for the price I think it's hard to beat the bang for the buck, here. This would be a perfect whistle if you mainly play the standard/higher octave whistles and are thinking about trying a low whistle. It's not as big as a low D, so it's an easier adjustment, the price is reasonable, and it sounds good. Also, a G whistle is a decent choice for playing modally in various common keys. If I lost mine, I'd buy another one. It's solid.

Quality instrument, excellent transition from higher whistles to lower ones.
I bought the Susato low G whistle based on a review I found on You Tube; I wanted a low whistle, but I'm not quite ready for the low D. It was delivered on time, was well packaged, came with a nice cloth case, and is, overall, what I expected. It has a nice tone, and the breath requirement is actually a little less than what I thought it might be. It is similar in breath requirement and tone to my Yamaha alto recorder (which I consider to be a good thing), and similar in feel and tone to my Dixon high D, though lower, and a little more challenging with the fingering (because I am new to the lower whistles, and not yet used to the larger holes or wider fingering stretch). The transition from high D to low G is a little more difficult than the transition from soprano recorder to alto recorder as far as the fingering goes, but the increased breath requirement is similar. I will definitely consider other Susato whistles in the future.

Great instrument
For beginners it might be a challenge to get the right notes and is also big for kids. Overall it has a great sound and great for what we paid.

Not worth the price
Can be found for 20 dollars cheaper elsewhere. No way is this worth over 100 dollars. This would have cost about 7 dollars to make and then product goes through distribution getting jacked up in price. This should be 40 dollars maximum. To the seller. Pick one up and feel it and tell me it’s worth over 100 dollars. I would send it back but it’s for playing music for the death of a loved one.

Excellent value!
This is a great whistle for the price. The sound is great and it plays easily. It doesn’t take much air to hit the low and high notes. Excellent value!!

Great product.
I bought this for my wife. It’s a great whistle, but she has small hands and the holes are too far spread apart, so I had to return it.

Absolutely a magical instrument!!
This flute has a sweetness like no other!! It has its own tonality. Smooth across the board.. very even air flow from low to higher notes. Octave jumping is effortless. And, the bonus is their customer service. They make you feel like you matter. Can't wait for my next Susato flute.
