Fabulous for deer control, location coding, and more!
These pinwheels need to be taken out of the Amazon Toys and Games department and placed directly into Garden and Outdoor category, since they are the most fantastic solution for our most serious stubborn problems here on our homestead. We’ve battled to keep herds of deer out of our fruit orchards every year, but could never afford an 8’ tall fence to keep them out… yet now we finally have a beautiful solution by stringing up long lines of these very festive pinwheels right above our existing 4’ high fences! The deer are terrified of these unfamiliar spinning, humming objects and are staying well away for the first time ever.Even better: our heritage chickens and turkeys can easily jump over our existing 4’ fences to get into the flower and vegetable gardens, but now they are also intimidated by the moving pinwheel barriers and won’t attempt to cross them anymore. We plan on stringing up short lengths of these marvelous pinwheels directly above our raised garden beds this spring to chase off squirrels and small wild birds, although we’re still working on the main fence lines boundaries as of this writing. So far we’ve put together and strung up 700' (seven boxes) of these pinwheels, with 400’ (four more boxes) on the way. They are time consuming to put together all right, but so is knitting a baby blanket, crocheting a hat, or sewing curtains. Anyone who likes craft projects will undoubtedly and absolutely love these. I’m not crazy about doing crafts myself, but these were actually fun to put together. It’s still late winter here with limited time available for outside projects (daily chores aside), so watching movies and all eight seasons of “24” while putting together pinwheels has been a downright pleasant way to pass the time.An added bonus: we’ve color-coded different yards and paddocks to completely eliminate any confusion on exactly where we’re talking about when visitors or helpful neighbors arrive. The Cabana Duck Haven is now the Blue Yard; the Island Flower Garden is now the Green Yard; the Fruit Orchard is now the Orange Yard; and all gates (the locations of our many gates not always being obvious) are now marked with strings of purple pinwheels. We’re still working on putting together red pinwheels to mark the blackberry patch and hope to have enough yellow pinwheels to mark the boundaries of our entire vegetable garden (we’ll have to see what colors are inside the next four boxes of pinwheels when they arrive on Wednesday).I’ve deducted one star on this product review because the 30 meters of included cable are not enough to string all 100 pinwheels at a distance of 12” apart, so we've had to supplement with uncoated steel wire purchased from the local hardware store. Also, it would be great for planning purposes if it were possible to order specific pinwheel colors by the box instead of receiving batches of random colors. We’re not fond of pink, for example (who wants spinning pink fence lines? Um, maybe someone would, but not us). On the other hand we’d happily order several extra boxes of yellow pinwheels for the main vegetable gardens if we could. Finally, in regards to durability: in the month since stringing up the first hundred or so of these wonderful pinwheels as an initial test we’ve endured two separate extreme windstorms with sustained winds over 20MPH and gusts up to 50 MPH. Under such conditions the pinwheels were spinning so fast that they looked like blurry floating blobs of color, yet all but four came through without any obvious wear or tear at all! The four that died hit a welded cattle panel fence at full force, which was my fault due to faulty placement. My bad.At any rate, these pinwheels are a truly fantastic solution for many serious ongoing problems in the garden, or for any homestead! To designate them as merely toys or party favors is kind of sad in my personal opinion, since the are an affordable and powerful deer control solution that also provides a way to keep chickens and turkeys away from where you don’t want them to go. Scarecrows don’t work, but these certainly do work very wonderfully!

Only 4 colors, not 5+ as stated
I was hoping the review about how only four colors arrived versus the five or more promised was a fluke but I only received four too. It will do but I was hoping for more of a rainbow theme.

They only sent 4 very muted colors
I’m very disappointed. I was looking forward to putting these throughout my yard. My daughter is autistic, so I figured she’d LOVE a rainbow of colors spinning around. They only sent me 2 different blues (that looks close in shade), Orange, and a very ugly muted pink. I’m sending them back. Not at all what they advertised.

Garden Protector
I put two lines of these colorful spinners a few feet about our container garden to keep birds from eating the tomatoes. Very effective plus the grandkids like to watch them. I recommend this product.

Need more colors
I ordered two packages of the wind spinners hoping for lots of color. Description says at least 5. I only have 4 colors per package and they are the same. It's a lot of green, pink, blue, and purple. I don't think it's going to have the look I was going for.

Looks great!
Looked great for outdoor birthday party! They are not particularly difficult to assemble but do require some patience.

Great as long as you know what you are getting.
This product was fairly easy to put together. Please read reviews in that this product is 100 pinwheels that arrived unassembled. Directions are found online. The pinwheels can then be threaded through the provided thick coated wire for hanging. Great for a garden or birthday backdrop. They are not individualized on plastic sticks.
