Better Than Road to Rome
Secret Weapons of WWII is an expansion pack for Battlefield: 1942 (BF1942). It comes with 8 new maps and two new armies (British Commandos and German Elite). These armies can only be used on certain maps. The expansion also has an assortment of new weapons and vehicles which again are only for use on certain maps. These include one of each of the following for each team: jet powered fighter (F-85 Goblin - Allies and Natter Rocket Plane - Germans), flying wing fighter/bomber (AW-52 - Allies and HO 229 - Germans), motorcycle with MG armed sidecar, amphibious assault vehicles (LVT-2 Water Buffalo - Allies and Schwimmwagen - Germans), commando rafts, specialty tanks (Sherman armed with T-34 Calliope and T95/T28 Heavy Tank - Allies and Flakpanzer and Sturmtiger - Germans). All in all the allied vehicle additions are the most affective IMO. However, the Germans got the best infantry weapons in the expansion. German assault troops get the FG 42, engineers get the Mauser K98 with grenade attachment, and most importantly the Gewehr 43 sniper rifle allows semi auto fire and you can still see your target (or what's left of them) after each shot. The allies get the Bren for assault troops, silenced Sten MK2 for medics, and shotgun for engineer. Of course, for those thrill seekers the rocket pack has also been added. These can be found hidden in upstairs rooms in certain buildings. I would have given the expansion more stars, but the new gadgets can only be used in certain maps. The maps are fun and fairly well balanced. I would also note that even though this is a very old title there is still an active multiplayer community. I was able to jump right into a multiplayer game with no lag. However, there are very few servers that actually play the expansions. The biggest question is really is it worth getting. If you already have BF1942, I wouldn't bother unless you are a diehard fan. But if you are looking at getting BF1942 then get Battlefield 1942: World War II Anthology which comes with this expansion and Battlefield 1942 Expansion: The Road to Rome or get Battlefield 1942: The Complete Collection which comes with both expansions and Battlefield: Vietnam .

Just adding to the fun!
Secret Weapons is the second expansion pack in this popular series. I believe this one is better than "The Road To Rome". You have more new maps, more weapons and more vehicles. There are 8 or 9 new maps you can play on instant battle or on-line, though it seems 2 or 3 of the new maps are quite laggy when your not playing on-line. But the new maps are very cool are harder to beat than the original maps. and some of these maps have an awesome feel to them. A couple of maps take place at night, and when you are coming up on the battle from a distance and see mortar shells lighting up the night sky and here the Stealth Bomber but can't see it until it passes by a moon lit cloud, it is absolutely awesome. There are only a of things I don't like. One, you can hardly ever find these new maps in an on-line game. Two, some of the new vehicles (like one of the new allie tanks), you drive and have turret to fire from, but the other guy rides in the top of the tank gets unleash a barrage of missiles and only he gets the credit for it. Three, I still don't like when your reinforcement ticket counts down because you don't have half of the flags covered. I can see it counting down if you own all except the main flag, but not for half. Other than that, this game offers more to this fun game. And with the release of new patches (it has become easier to download them finally), they give you new maps. The most recent new map, Attack of The Phillipines, is very cool. There are at least 4 new maps I have seen, so hopefuly they keep releasing new ones (though you can only play these on-line), So buy this and enjoy.
