Knew Concepts5" Woodworker Fret Saw with Screw Tension

Works great on Dovetail waste
I tried using a coping saw to cutout waste on hardwood dovetails. I would either bruise the tail or run out of steam cutting through oak. After watching a you tube video with Adam Savage I bought a basic Knew Concepts 5" saw, without the tensioning lever or alignment options. This fret saw is smaller than the kerf I get with my pull saw, so no bruises, and cuts through hard oak easily. If you are serious about hand cut dovetails consider this saw.

Best fret saw period
I primarily sue this saw for hogging out dovetails and the waste between the pins. This saw works beautifully. I can tension it tightly enough whereas jeweler's saw with the fixed frame are good but I can never tension those enough. Worth every penny for every level of woodworker. It will change how you approach your work. Get the Pegas blades for the saw.

A lot harder to use than expected. The blade broke.
The saw is a lot harder to maneuver than expected. It doesn't glade very smoothly. The blade tends to fall off the sockets. After sawing just 2 inches, the blade broke.

Very impressed
After struggling with a conventional coping saw for cutting dovetails, I purchased the Knew Concepts fret saw. I was amazed how well it works. It's a little pricy but a very high quality tool. It is easy to adjust and feels rock solid when using it. Highly recomended.

Exactly as advertised
This is exactly what was advertised. It's a really good fret or coping saw, and I'm using it to cut dovetails. This thing is awesome. It's light, precise, sharp, and the right tool for the job when I need to cut dovetails!

Great saw for dovetails.
There’s a reason almost all of the professional woodworkers use this saw. Period.
