Splendor Solis Tarot: Inner Alchemies of Mithraic Light

The beauty of this deck surpasses many others Ive seen. For quality it is excellent, the cards are not too thin, they have a matt finish and gold guilding, the box is strong and sturdy. Its a very colourful deck which I like but it is not the usual type of tarot. The deck is based on the Splendor solis alchemical manuscript of 1582, in conjunction with the Kabbalah and the tree of life. The Minor Arcana is Kabbalah based and helps to understand the Tree of Life and the Four Worlds better. I would have liked the guidebook to have had more information in explaining some of the images and how they relate to the tarot. All in all, this is a beautiful deck but definately not for the beginner.

One of the most beautiful Tarot decks I have come across. Excellent quality alround, card stock, printing and packaging. The guidebook is small but in full colour throughout. The gold foiling on the front of the cards is glossy and bright, while the gold edges is a sparkly satin finish. None of the cards was stuck together, often the case with gold edged cards. The printing is matt and the colours muted which for me suits the subject perfectly. This finish, combined with the size and thickness of card may make them harder to shuffle, but for me the overall effect is stunning. We'll worth the price, and more.

very well made, clear images... the major arcana are just like the original templates. very easy to read and understand, but only for those with experience in alchemical practices, with knowledge and understanding of the 'original' templates.An excellent divinatory tool as well as a guide for the distinguished alchemist - for the experienced I definitely recommend. For most others, even those experienced in divination might not fully understand the symbolism within these cards.

The quality of the printed cards is very good. The problem is that the main theme and details at the centre of each illustration are barely visible, because the border takes up too much space. Larger print is available for those who need bigger images. The 22 illustrations of the Splendor Solis come with some minor arcana designed by the author. I wasn't looking for those, but OK. However, what really stood out was the booklet. The booklet does not contain the text/translation of the Splendor Solis text, but the author's own meditations and advertisements for her own Mystery School, which is based on the so-called legacy of two people, both of whom are now deceased and whom no one has ever heard before. According to the author, one of them is someone called Dr Norman Capstick, who founded the so called School of Memphis. Dr. Norman Capstick, MD FRCP "...was following in the footsteps of his own teacher, the adept Dr. Agatha Mills. Dr. Mills studied with masters in Cairo’s ancient university, Al-Azhar." Al-Azhar University is indeed old, but it was founded as and remains a centre of Islamic learning. Curious to know if there are any Sufi masters in Al-Azhar University, who also happen to have an interest in western alchemical texts of the Renaissance! Also, both Dr Norman Capstick and Dr Agatha Mills are recent revelations! They only became known to the world and embarked on their public mission after this tarot deck and its little booklet were published in 2008 and after they were both dead!At any rate, we are grateful to Dr Capstick, Dr Mills and Marie Angelo for sharing their wisdom with the world. Those of us who want to follow their path can purchase the meditations hinted at in the booklet, directly from the author's website for a small donation.

Excelente calidad de las cartas, tienen un acabado satinado. Las ilustraciones se basan en el libro Splendor Solis del siglo XVII. Los arcanos mayores y menores se basan en principios alquímicos y no tienen nada que ver con las ilustraciones de un Marsella o un Rider-Waite. Hay que saber mucho de Alquimia y del árbol de la vida (Cábala) para poderlo interpretar fácilmente. Muy recomendable para expertos en esas materias.

Dieses "Splendor Solis" - Deck ist außergewöhnlich, sowohl von der Verarbeitung - wie auch in der Idee dahinter. Ich kann der Gestalterin Marie Angelo nur gratulieren - vielleicht gibt es bald wieder so ein außergewöhnliches Deck der Zeitlosen Weisheit.Mag. Wolfgang Herko
