HOBOT-288 Window Cleaning Automatic Robot with Control via Smartphone or Remote

I purchased this to clean a glass roof that sits over our atrium. The remote control does not activate well from a distance/at different angles so we ended up not using it all - the app controls were far more responsive. It was a very “manual” process in the sense that it had to constantly be adjusted and moved with the controls, which are a little confusing. There was no way we could just leave it unattended and expect it to clean properly by itself. It constantly stops and beeps at you to adjust. Another huge problem is the fact that you can’t turn it on and off remotely. You could kill the power at the plug to turn it off if you had to but good luck hitting the tiny switch to turn it on if you need to while out of reach. This is an issue for our glass ceiling because the robot can’t traverse the metal frames holding the glass panes in place. This requires us to manually turn the robot off, move it to the next pane, and then turn it back on. We can’t manually reach some of panes so it would force us to get on the roof to complete the job. If we could remotely kill the power we could push it with a pole to the next pane and pull with the safety cord after turning it off. I realize most would be using this for vertical windows and it would probably do a good job on those - if you’re willing to babysit it. We tried it on our glass shower and it did a good job cleaning but I don’t know if it’s worth the cost and time to set up for that. The corners and areas around hinges still need to be finished off by hand. Also, if the surface is too wet it won’t work at all (and too wet is a couple of sprays of Windex). We have a lot of home automation products and this one will be used the least I’m sure. The tech is cool and I’m sure a lot of work was put into designing it. That being said - I’d say if you have extra money lying around and want to have fun trying out a new robot, go for it. Otherwise, think long and hard before handing over your cash.

I have used this unit for over a year and it is fantastic if you follow the instructions. It has never lessened in its power or cleaning capacity. I have had professional window washers that say it is a fantastic contribution to window cleaning. As with most tools a person must follow the instructions. The blue pad must be used first to get all the dust off. Then spray the window with a vinegar and water mix, really simple, and lightly spray the window. Then use The yellow pad to finish cleaning and bring a beautiful Glisan to your window. This unit when used correctly actually does better than the professional window washers that I have worked with. The other instruction to follow is that the unit must sit 4 inches from any window sale before starting. This is necessary because it pivots 90° I am continually amazed that with my 4‘ x 10‘ windows it cleans every inch. Compared to what a window washer you higher costs, this unit pays for itself by the time you have cleaned all your windows. My Windows can be popped out so I can use the unit to clean the inside and the outside. This unit is definitely worth the investment.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a good robot that does what it is advertised to do. Inside, outside, mirrors, or showers can be cleaned with this tool. If the window is real dirty, let this robot clean it a few times. You might clean better by hand, but this robot is not scared of heights nor does it care that it is cleaning the same window over and over in the heat.It holds the window well with strong suction. The safety battery works well.Negatives: Cost, noise, and can have trouble on really dirty windows.

The HOBOT didn't work since day 1. When plugged in it apparently charges the battery but once the charge is apparently completed and the on/off button is turned on, the device works for less than a second and then it turns off. I sent an e-mail to [email protected] on May 25, 2020. Today is June 6, 2020 and I haven't got a response yet. On May 30 I received an Instant Message from HOBOT-USA by Messenger in my iPhone to ask if I was happy with the device. I answered them that it was not working. Eight hours later they requested me to send them a video of the HOBOT and its power cord. I sent them three videos showing the issue on June 1. I haven't got a response yet.

Someone told me that this device cleanes not only windows, but also tiles in the bathroom. I tried first on my windows, then in the bathroom. This device really works! All the surfaces are clean. There are some spots in the corners it can not reach, but it took me 5 mins to finish the job by myself.

I really am impressed with the suction. I can now do my second floor windows without a ladder!

The media could not be loaded.  Zuerstmal muss ich sagen, dass ich schon mehrere Fensterwischrobotter habe. Der erste den ich gekauft hatte war der WinBot. Der war temperamentvoll und ist dann auch irgendwann kaputt gegangen. Die Software hat einfach nicht mehr funktioniert und der war mehr Aufwand als es Wert war. Dann habe ich mir den kleinen Hobot mit den zwei runden Wischern gekauft. Bei dem habe ich nur zwei Mängel: 1. Da die Wischpads rund sind, bleiben die Ecken dreckig. 2. Auf Fenstern die eine gefaserte Oberfläche haben, wie zB Badezimmerfenster, rutscht er umher und kann meistens nicht putzen. Von diesen runden Hobots habe ich mehrere und die laufen alle noch super! Sie sind allerdings klein und grosse Flächen dauern lange.Nun dachte ich mir, für mein Büro kaufe ich mir den neuen Hobot 288. Da ich schon weiss wie er funktioniert und es kinderleicht ist, habe ich ihn einfach eingestöpselt und los ging es. Ich bin sehr positiv von ihm überrascht! Er ist richtig flink im Gegensatz zu anderen Robotern und er ist nicht ein einziges Mal stecken geblieben.Er kommt auch mit jeder Menge Pads: 3x Polierpad und 3 Trockenwischpads.Was unbedingt zu beachten ist: Man braucht kein Fensterwischmittel. Am besten putzt er komplett trocken!

The product did not work to begin with. It hit the window frames harder than I expected and made strange noise when doing so and the program simply never did what is supposed to do. I suspect it had a faulty sensor as it never climbed above the original position. I returned it after a 2h of testing and would have expected more than this from a test winner. Maybe I was just unlucky.The suction is very good, cleaning itself ok. It is noisy and the remote control is a bit shaky (seemsthat you have to price twice on all commands).

Gerät putzt sehr sauber, wir sind sehr zufrieden; funktioniert allerdings nur auf senkrechter Verglasung, erkennt und funktioniert sehr gut bei rahmenlosen Verglasungen; Dachfenster ok, waagerechte Verglasung (zBsP Glasdach bei Wintergarten) von oben und kopfüber nicht möglich

Das Gerät funktioniert nicht wirklich! Die Ecken werden gar nicht sauber und auch sonst hinterlässt das Gerät Schlieren. Die Automatik-Programme laufen bei mir auch nicht durch. Manchmal ändert der Roboter die Richtung, obwohl er noch gar nicht am Ende der Scheibe ist. Vielleicht liegt es ja daran, dass wir sehr große Fenster haben. Aber trotzdem, für den Preis habe ich wesentlich mehr erwartet!

Eine praktische Hilfe beim Fensterputzen aber Nacharbeiten ist in den Ecken notwendig. Bei kleinen Fenstern ist man mit Tuch und Wischer schneller und es ist auch sauberer.
