Great security.
Love this product. As soon as the door bell is pressed it sends a call to my phone so I can see who's at the door and talk to them if I need to. Really like the fact when someone stands in front of the door bell, the bell push lights up so people can see where to press. You can also have alerts if anybody passes infron of the door bell camera. The product is well made and feels like quality.

Does not record on event detection without a subscription.
Easy to fit - though I personally used tape rather than the rigid bit of plastic to keep the delicate ribbon cable folded.Used for 2 weeks whilst abroad with the Android App, image was always available and recorded postman and cat feeder on internal memory card.Alexa doesn't always show image (reports not available), sometimes needs two command attempts, but only used this feature a few times - the door viewer is probably the best way of seeing visitors anyway.Doesn't (yet) have movement detection zones, so every car and bike going past the house triggers an alert.UPDATE - Now free cloud subscription has expired there is no ability for the Micro SD storage to store upon detection, only by manual clicking record. Product is therefore useless without the subscription. I will be comlaining to Amazon.QUOTE FROM WEBSITE: "Storage of footage: EZVIZ cameras can hold a MicroSD card (up to 128 GB) for local storage upon each detection, or alternatively you can sign up to our Cloud Storage system (subject to subscription costs)."

Great idea, but there are major issues with this product
TL;DR - a smart door bell that does not alert reliably 100% of the time (both motion detection and door bell call) is not an acceptable solution. Only tested with Samsung Android (Ezviz app), cannot speak for the iOS app.UPDATE1 - The manufacturer of this Ezviz product, Hikvision, has their own app called "Hik-Connect", which has a much better success rate than the Ezviz app itself! Assuming that the Hik-Connect app is the template that Ezviz used in order to add their extra functionality, e.g. paid-for cloud services, what happened is that Ezviz' app developer essentially broke the Hik-Connect template while creating the Ezviz app. This just shows how little care is given by Ezviz / Hikvision. Same thing with the lack of firmware updates. I tried the app for LaView (also Hikvision), but that app is not better than Ezviz' version of the original Hikvision app.UPDATE2 - If you use the Hik-Connect app, do not use the "Visitor Mode" but register instead. If you later just uninstall the app, without unassigning the camera first, you will not be able to register the camera with the Ezviz app again, and will have to email Ezviz with proof of purchase and picture of the back of the device, revealing your security code...REVIEW - I have compared with the product feedback on Amazon.com and on Google's Playstore, and several forums discussing the Ezviz/Hikvision products and the CS-DP1 in particulare. All of my testing has been with a Samsung Note 9, all required app permissions were granted, and the app was excluded from any battery saving features.Generally, the Ezviz DP1 is well-made. The touch screen is responsive, the body of the device itself is of high quality, as is the camera-doorbell unit, installation is easy. It is the same hardware as the product from LaView, both of which are made by Hikvision. The Android app requires registration with email or phone number - unnecessary from a technical point of view, just a means of getting your info and selling you add-ons! Once registered via the app, the device can be added via scanning the QR code on the back of the device itself. Pushing the WiFi credentials to the device via app is not possible. Instead these have to be entered manually via the touchscreen of the device. There is no WPS support either.Once the device is added in app, I am able to get a live view from the camera. The camera also detects motion and reliably saves the info onto the local microSD card. The camera quality is 720p but the feed is highly compressed and somewhat distored (expected with the peephole fisheye), the colour accuracy is not great at all (overexposed). The night IR lighting is not great either, very overexposed and only covering a short distance. The motion detection only works when someone is already very close to the device, maybe 6-8 feet. The biggest issues with the DP1:- The firmware is outdated. The last update was over a year ago, August 2018. There are several issues that could be improved or solved with a firmware update.- The device does not support longer than 32 character WiFi passwords and only a limited ASCII character set. The WiFi standard 802.11i allows max 63 character password full ASCII. This very issue was reported by an Amazon.com customer about a year ago, but since there is no firmware update, there is no solution. Every other smart device I have, mobile phone, tv, computer, other gadgets, they all support the standard, this product does not, very lazy. Connecting to a Virtual Wireless Access Point is not possible either.- Most of the larger microSD cards (e.g. SDXC, 32GB+) come formatted as exFAT. However, my exFAT formatted Sandisk MicroSD card crashes the device (firmware limitation again). In order to use my 128GB Sandisk microSD card, I had to format this to FAT32 via diskpart (it is not a standard formatting option in Windows 10 for most 32GB+ SDXC microSD cards). To recover from the exFAT crash, I removed the microSD card and force-reset the device.- The traffic is generally encrypted, but only with 6 upper-case letters by default, and with a maximum of 12 characters without any special characters supported. This is essentially just a placebo encryption and really not secure at all from a technical perspective.- The software menu and options on the device are a little outdated. There are only three rather bad ringtones. One has to set the parameters (e.g. sensitivity, recording lengths, etc) for the door bell and for the motion detection on the device itself, this is not possible via the app (only on/off function via the app). This could easily be improved (if there was any proper firmware / app development).- The motion detection is semi-reliable and a little slow. Often, the images / video taken following motion detection are a bit blurred, the range for motion-detection is not great, push notifications are not always instand (Ezviz app, Hikvision app is generally better), e.g. once the person has already pressed the doorbell.- There is no 24/7 tech support, you will no get any instant reply and the telephone hotline is not 24/7 either. The biggest issues with the Android Ezviz app for the DP1 (iOS app not tested):- If the motion detection does works, my phone does receive a push notification, however only reliably if the app is open in the foreground, less reliably if the app is in the background, almost never if the app is closed. Since push notifications should work whether an app is open or closed, this is definitely a bug.- If the door bell button is pressed, I do get a call on my phone, however only reliably if the app is in the foreground, rarely if the app is in the background, and never when the app is closed, same bug, but worse than with motion detection.- If my app was closed while there was an alert event, motion detection or door bell, and I reopen the app later on, I do not receive any 'missed events' reminder. I can only go manually by the local microSD card recording what has happened.- The app is massively geared towards their paid-for cloud service. If someone wants to use the device and app without making use of their cloud service, only using the local microSD card storage of the device, the app has limited functionality. Browsing through the history is easy with the cloud storage but cumbersome when reviewing the timeline from the microSD card.I might just end up using the Hik-Connect app with the Ezviz DP1, but this is not the standard user experience you should get for £165 (on discount). As of now, the Ezviz app on my Samsung Android does not work as it should. While the hardware is generally capable enough (camera quality is not great but acceptable), this is generally let down by a lack of firmware development and a mediocre software development on Ezviz side.
