A36 carbon steel square tubing is hot rolled and meets the American Society of Testing and Materials Association of International ASTM A36 specifications. A36 carbon steel grade is a structural steel that has better molding than 1018 carbon steel. The tube is hot rolled and is a method of compressing the metal between two rollers at a temperature higher than the recrystalline temperature of the material and reaching the specified dimensions.

Tensile strength is used to indicate the overall strength of the material, and is the maximum stress that can withstand before breaking. Abrasion resistance shows the ability to prevent surface damage caused by contact with other surfaces. Toughness represents the ability of a material that absorbs energy before breaking, while the hardness (generally measured as a dimpling hardness) represents resistance to permanent surface deformation. Molding properties indicate how easy and permanent material can be shaped. Machine-ability refers to how easy cutting, molding, finishing, or other machining can be done while the welding properties feature the welding capability.
