Review: quality unit. 18" yes - 16" mounting, great for studs. I added 4 washer, I felt they were needed. - very strong, that's not an issue. I personally felt 4 washers were needed. But that's me... For me, it holds everything I use and the walls are poured concrete. I did not need to find a stud! Mounting was easy.
Review: Great for adding storage - Perfect for inside of a weird cabinet we have. Added much needed storage for our Tupperware! Very sturdy love it!

Some years ago I bought several of these shelves at a building and supply store. When I saw them on Amazon, I bought two additional shelves as I needed two more on one side of my garage. They are identical to what I put up about five years ago. Easy to install and they look good. Not sure of their load rating, but I never put more than about 15 to 18 pounds of items on any one of the shelves.
