It has been working flawlessly for reading/playing music CDs as well as videos. Also has continued to work great as a CD burner.I’ve not needed to supply it with external power, as it gets sufficient power from the USB-C connection on my MacBook Pro laptop. I’ve also used it on my older 2013 MacBook without any problems. Having the flexibility of using either USB connection available on the integrated cable, without needing another adapter cable, is very convenient and practical. Be careful when placing a CD in the pop-out tray, as I suspect if you place too much downward pressure on the CD when putting in the drawer, it’s possible it could break. Not a big deal, as I typically support any tray, when popped out from the drive.I wish the manufacturer had also included some sort of slip-in case to protect the drive. I’ve just continued to use the box from the manufacturer when I don’t plan on using the drive for a while.One niggle with it from a design & long-term use perspective: while there’s a nice cable storage groove in the bottom of the drive for placing the cable when not in use, in my opinion the additional “side exit” groove for the cable to run out the side when in use is far to close to the point where the cable exits the internal portion of the drive. This causes you to have to put a 90 degree bend in the cable at the point of the side exit groove, if you use that when the drive is in use.
