I carefully opened it up, especially taking care to protect any o-ring seals. Once you open it up, you can easily remove the battery. I took mine to a watch repair area of my local mall in Phuket, Thailand. They had the batteries in stock. I installed the new battery and put it all back together. I suspect this method is not recommended by Seiko. Probably the best solution would be to find a good dive watch repair or battery replacement place. They would be more used to dealing with seals and o-rings. They could easily sort out the battery needed. If all else fails, you might be able to get Seiko to do it. I didn't try that, but it might be an option. The other option would be to buy a new stopwatch. I loved mine. **Q: Does it have the ability to recall the final split when you stop timing?
