## Description

On February 7, 1964, The Beatles arrived at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, greeted by scores of screaming, swooning fans who rushed the gate to catch a glimpse of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr as they took their first steps on American soil. Two nights later, on Sunday, February 9, 73 million viewers in the U.S. and millions more in Canada tuned in to CBS to watch The Beatles make their American television debut on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show.’ In what remains one of the world’s top-viewed television events of all time, The Beatles performed five songs on the live broadcast and ‘Beatlemania,’ already in full, feverish bloom in The Beatles’ native U.K., was unleashed with blissful fervor across America and around the world. The British Invasion had begun. The U.S. albums were originally issued between 1964 and 1970 by Capitol Records, Apple Records, and United Artists in the United States. These new releases seek to replicate the unique listening experience heard by Americans at the time by preserving the sequences, timings, and artwork found on the albums. Capitol’s engineers in the 1960s took great care to produce what they believed to be the best possible sound for the playback equipment in use at that time. Due to the limitations of the record players of the day, engineers often compressed the sound by raising the volume of the softer passages and lowering the volume for the louder parts of the songs. They also reduced the bass frequencies since too much bass could cause the record to skip. In some cases, reverb was added to the tracks to make them sound more “American.” This CD is packaged in a miniature vinyl sleeve that faithfully recreates the original U.S. LP release down to the finest detail, including the inner sleeve. A HARD DAY’S NIGHT (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) was originally released June 26, 1964 in the U.S. It spent fourteen weeks at No. 1. This album is a limited edition release.

Review: Hard Days Night - I never had this album. I love the Beatles and have decided to convert my Beatles collection to CD.
Review: One of the many essential U.S. Album releases! - I'm a huge fan of The Beatles! I own The Capitol Albums Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 box sets; these original mixes by Capitol sound better than the other box sets subsequently listed here. I also own the U.S. Albums box set, the 2009 mono box set, and the 2009 stereo box set as well as various other compilations, DVDs, and solo efforts by the band members. When the U.S. Albums box set was released, I thought that it was redundant and not worth buying on its own merits. Boy, was I wrong! While I was too young to listen to The Beatles in the Sixties by a decade, I can fully appreciate how longtime fans would want and love the release of the U.S. Albums box set finally. Meet The Beatles!, The Beatles' Second Album, A Hard Day's Night (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), Something New, Beatles '65, The Early Beatles, Beatles VI, Rubber Soul, and Yesterday And Today are absolutely essential! I'd also recommend Hey Jude, especially, because of the tracks and flow of the music. There's a reason why Hey Jude went to #1 in the U.K. a decade after The Beatles disbanded! Unlike the Parlophone (or EMI) U.K. releases, Capitol Records included the singles on The Beatles' U.S. albums. A Hard Day's Night (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) was the most anticipated U.S. album release on CD. It's obviously different than the Parlophone release of A Hard Day's Night because it is missing five vocal tracks that were on the U.K. version of A Hard Day's Night. Some of those missing tracks did appear on Something New and other U.S. albums though. The U.S. version of A Hard Day's Night has eight vocal tracks and four instrumental tracks on it. Three of the four instrumental tracks are also vocal tracks on the album, with Ringo's Theme (This Boy) being the only exception. I think A Hard Day's Night (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is just as enjoyable as the U.K. release of A Hard Day's Night. The original mono soundtrack is finally available in CD format, too, as well as a stereo version of the soundtrack. Both are brilliant! Personally, my favorite U.S. album releases are Meet The Beatles!, A Hard Day's Night (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), Beatles '65, and Rubber Soul. I think it's a toss up between Meet The Beatles! and Beatles '65 as far as the best U.S. album. ADDITIONAL NOTE: I bought the Criterion Collection's remastered, re-released dual DVD, A Hard Day's Night, too! I highly recommend that! FINAL NOTES: I recommend buying The Capitol Albums Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 box sets before they go completely out of print. I also recommend buying the following U.S. albums from the U.S. Albums box set: A Hard Day's Night (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack); Yesterday And Today (for the butcher cover and, of course, for the music); and Hey Jude. If you don't already own the U.K. version of Revolver, then buy that version because it is The Beatles' greatest album in a peerless discography and the U.S. Album version of Revolver chops off three songs. Technically, Magical Mystery Tour is also a U.S. Album release. Capitol released Magical Mystery Tour in the Sixties to "pad out" the U.K.'s EP version of it. Notice how Magical Mystery Tour "only" has 11 tracks on it? EMI/Parlophone liked Capitol's release so much that they made it part of their U.K. discography. It's a shame that lawsuits prevented the release of The Capitol Albums Vol. 3 box set, but this is the best way to complete their U.S. album releases!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Will make me feel alright..."
*by R***O on September 19, 2014*

Finally, the Capitol Records CD version of the movie soundtrack of The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" has been released. This was a delight to hear on vinyl and even better than ever in this format many years later. For listeners that are not familiar with the album's song list, this is the original movie soundtrack from the film. The record includes twelve album tracks that include a blend of the most memorable Beatles songs and instrumental versions and a few treats for fans that have watched the film more than a number of times, this album as opposed to the British Parlophone version has the alternate and slightly extended version of "I'll Cry Instead" and the unforgettable instrumental of "Ringo's Theme (This Boy)." And for the album artwork and liner notes, exactly a copy but smaller and compact version from the original, which includes who starred in the film besides The Beatles, Wilfred Brambell, Produced by Walter Shenson, Directed by Richard Lester, Screenplay by Alun Owen, Released thru United Artists, and Musical Director George Martin. Indeed, this may be a great addition to any Beatles fan's record collection even if the songs been heard more than once some time in any fan's lives. Who would not want to hear the ever so popular songs of the title track to "Can't Buy Me Love" in both mono and stereo sound?
