I installed this product according to the instructions on the package. It is not nearly as simple as you would expect in that you cannot simply put this down on bare ground and water it. Instead, you have to initially prepare the soil underneath and, critically important, you need to put layer of good soil on top of the mat, which I did. You also have to basically water it daily for the first few weeks. As per the photos, the germination rate was decent, but in the areas where the soil had washed off the top of the mat there was almost no germination. Note that the second photo is about six weeks later, but my location is in mixed sun and shade, and I have no doubt the clover would have been more full if it was in full sun. So, the question becomes, why spend the extra money for a clover seed mat, which you still have to cover with soil, when you could just buy the seeds instead? I see only a marginal advantage to this mat over just plain clover seed, as it does save a little bit of time and does seem to retain water better. But, those are minimal advantages based on the fact that it is many times the price of plain clover seed. That may or may not be worth the extra money to you, but you can a least make an informed choice.

I've been replacing bits of lawn with native plantings, and a couple years ago we overseeded our front lawn area with some clover that it's taken a couple years but it's finally starting to pop up in spots. I'm excited that I'll be able to use this to accelerate that process throughout the yard.It seems to be well made, and I appreciate the blend of cloverIf I run into germination issues come spring I will definitely update this review accordingly.

I love the idea of having a yard full of clover and my front lawn is pretty bare and a bit shady, I thought this would be a good solution. It works fine but isn't easier than getting a bag of seeds really, it requires a lot more top soil and preparation than I expected from the listing.In the photos in the listing it doesn't show the mat covered by soil but in the instructions on the package it does say to cover it with a thin layer of top soil, kind of a huge pain to cover than much area. it took me 3-4 bags. It's been growing but not super evenly which was another benefit I had hoped the roll would have over seeds was more even distribution. Only time will tell if these will survive the winter and come back next spring as well.

First let me say that I am FAR from a green thumb (more like a brown thumb keeping plants alive). But I had a couple of dry patches in my yard that I’ve been struggling with for a while, so I decided to give this clover mat a try. I’ve heard that clover requires less water and handles both sun and shade well, which is exactly what I needed for my yard. I didn’t have to fuss too much with prep work and I am shocked and thrilled that it’s growing just fine. 4 weeks in and I’m already seeing solid coverage in the patchiest parts of the yard. It’s holding up well with very infrequent watering, which is a huge plus in California where we are trying to conserve water. I’ve still got a few more bare spots, so I will buy some more knowing it actually works. Overall, it’s an excellent solution if you’re looking for a low-maintenance, eco-friendly way to cover bare patches in your yard!

I wanted a roll out flower mat for a while. I was excited to see this and couldn't wait til it arrived. It came quickly and I set about putting it in my flower bed. It was almost a perfect fit! I just tucked in a few places that went over the sidewalk. It didn't take me long at all to get it set up. I followed the directions about watering, and I waited for things to start growing. Grow they did - in spots. In other areas there was nothing. It makes my flower bed look a little odd with flourishing areas and bare areas. I don't know what I could have done wrong - I treated the whole thing the same. It has to.be the seeds or something. This may work better if it was cut up and used in smaller spaces, I don't know. I only know that it doesn't produce even growth. I give it 2.5 to 3 stars.

I purchased this item rolled it out wateted and only a part of the clovers came up. It seems to not want to grow and cost so much for it not to. But thanks

Unfortunately right after I bought this we've had a ton of rain so we didn't want to take a chance of losing it. We're planning on applying it once hurricane season is over and I will up date my review then. What I can say is it is packaged well and looks like it will be easy to apply.
